| Over in our videobox you'll find the trailer for Blade of the Immortal, an adaption of one of the greatest manga of the past twenty years. The manga was first released in 1994 and is still continuing to this day with 22 volumes available as of now. For anyone who hasn't heard of BOTI before, let me assure you that if the manga is anything to go by then this will be one of the best, if not the best action anime out this year. The series is scheduled to begin airing 13th of July. I'll have further updates on it as it gets closer to the air date. For those interested in checking out the manga, Darkhorse Comics do the official English translation. | ||||

| Over in the videobox you'll find the first episode of Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk a fantasy anime from Gonzo and the second show that they are subbing and releasing on par with the japanese broadcast. The first episode plays out like a parody show but if that turns you off, I'll be uploading episode 2 soon so you can see just how good the main story is going to be. Enjoy | ||||

| Spring/Summer Anime: First Impressions | 604 dagen geleden | ||

| As I stated in an ealier entry, the spring/summer season has begun. There are a lot of great titles out there and choosing which ones to follow can be a tough decision. But that's why I'm here. I'm going to give a quick summary of the shows I've seen so far and give an expectation rating on them. These ratings will be excellent, great, good, average, bad and terrible. I'll be updating this entry as I see more of this seasons anime and more begin their runs so if you're having trouble deciding which anime is worth checking out, take a look here and see what I thought. But remember, take these with a pinch of salt, these are just my own opinions. You'll need to click the blog title for the full article. Now that we've got that out of the way, Let's begin. Allison and Lillia This anime looks set to be a fan favourite. It's based in a world much like our own except there are only two countries and each one takes up half of the planet apart from a big river that flows between them. These two countries have been at war with each other for countless years fighting over such a trivial thing as which race of people came first and it's up to two friends to find the treasure that will end the hostilities once and for all. Expectation: Great Amatsuki My historical/fantasy pick for this season, Amatsuki is set in an Edo Period where demons and spirits exist. The show begins with an easygoing highchool student touring an advanced museum of Edo that uses hightech methods to absord the visitor into the tour. On his way however he ends up being attacked by a demon and finds that he is no longer just touring a recreation of Edo but has in fact been transported back to the real deal.So far this series looks promising and could turn out to be one of the best shows this season Expectation: Good Blassreiter There's not much to say about this since we're airing it here on AnimeCentral but this looks like it's going to be a very interesting show. It reminds me a bit of Skull Man, I'm not sure why, but if this anime is as good as it then we're in for a hell of a ride. Expectation: Great Bus Gamer Bus gamer is about a competition held by big corporations. In it, teams of three fight it out in an attempt to claim a disk that contains confidential data about the teams corporation. The anime itself follows the story of one of the teams whos members, after filling in an application form recieved in the mail, must learn to work together to achieve their goal of 100 billion yen. The show is only 3 episodes long so it makes for a quick watch Expectation: Average Code Geass R2 The second series of Code Geass started this season and any of you that have seen the first series will know that this is a great show and this new series should have us all on the edge of our seats as Zero trys to liberate and dominate Japan from Britanniana. Expectation: Excellent Crystal Blade This anime begins with a young woman running away from something and screaming wildly, when an old homeless man hears the screams and looks to where they're coming from he witnesses the woman freeze on the spot and turn into glass. We're then introduced to the members of a private detective agency who end up unknowingly getting involved in the mystery. Expectation: Good Golgo 13 First published as a manga in 1969 and still running to this day. There has been two live action films, a feature length anime, an OVA and three games. Now, this season, there's the long overdue TV anime. Duke Togo is a professional killer and he isn't just a regular assasin either, he's the best around. The series seems to be going with a new incident for each episode but at the same time there's a back story that should progress nicely as the show continues. Expectation: Excellent Himitsu the Revelation In this anime, there has been great advances in neurological science and it is now possible for the memories of the deceased to be viewed externally by the living. This technology is now used in solving crimes and in particular murders where the last moments of a persons life can be revealed. This series looks like it has a lot of promise and from the first episode it looks like it will be an intersting anime but it does seem like there's a bishounen overtone to it as well so if you can't overlook that, then this probably isn't for you. Expectation: Average Kurenai Kurenai tells the story of a boy who finds himself put in charge of protecting a young girl from her pursuers. That isn't all however. The boy seems to have strange powers and superhuman strength and it looks like anime will get better and better as these mysteries are unravelled. The show itself is worth a watch for the animation which is very crisp and well drawn. Expectation: Excellent Soul Eater From the first episode of this anime you know you're on to a winner. Soul Eater revolves around students known as Miesters who train with their weapons at theShinigami WEapon Meister Vocational School. The weapons they use however aren't ordinary weapons, they are demon weapons who can take human form. The goal of the meisters and their weapons is to defeat 99 evil souls and 1 witch and have the weapon consume those souls. The art direction in this show is unique to say the least and very stylish. Soul Eater is a funny and engaging anime and is my pick this season of Shounen anime. Expectation: Excellent Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk The second anime recieving a simultaneous worldwide release by Gonzo via streaming. This anime tells the tale of a gigantic tower where monsters and demons reside, atop this tower, on it's highest floor is Druaga, the evil god. It is said that King Gilgamesh once defeated Druaga and destroyed the tower but it reappeared not long ago and monsters and disease have begun wrecking havoc around the land. Jil, a young gaurdian, aspires to repeat the success of Gilgamesh and once again rid the land of Druaga and his tower. The Tower of Druaga was originly a Namco game released back in 1984 and you can be sutre that before long we'll be seeing a new game, possibly in the same seed as the Tales series, to coincide with the anime. Expectation: Great Vampire Knight Yuki's earliest memory is of a snowy night in winter, when she was attacked by one vampire and was saved by another, Kaname Kuran. Ten years later, Yuki Cross, the adopted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, has grown up and become a guardian for the school, with two purposes: To protect the Day class (humans) from the Night class's (vampires) fangs and to protect the true identity of the Night class students from being discovered by the Day class students. Kaname Kuran, Yuki's savior, leads the group of Night class, with the help of Takuma Ichijo. But also at her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend who was born into a family of vampire hunters and whose hatred for the vampires that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined to kill them all and never trusts them. Through a cruel twist of fate, Zero becomes a vampire himself, having been bitten by a pureblood. vampire Knight is a shoujo anime but that isn't to say that only girls will enjoy it. The show itself seems to have lots of potential and from what I've heard, later episodes will show that it takes hold of that potential too. Expectation: Good Toshokan Sensou (Library Wars) In 2019, the japanese government passed a law that allowed them to seize any creative work they deemed undesirable or dangerous to society. With this new law an agency was formed called the Media Enhancement Agency whose job it was to enforce the new law. It wasn't long however before this power was abused and people began to stand up in defiance. Those people were the librarians. Now, twenty years since the law has been in placed, the librarians are now a fully armed and well-trained militia whose duty it is to protect the libraries and works that the Media Enhancement Agency seek to destroy. When I first heard the premise of this show I was sceptical to say the least. But after watching the first 3 episodes I can confidently say that it's an interesting and enjoyable anime. The show is a great mix of action and comedy that I'm sure fans both male and female will enjoy Expectation: Great So there you have it...for now at least. Each of these anime is worth checking out for yourself but if you have limited time to watch anime then I hope that this serves as a good guide for what to watch. As I said above, I'll update this blog as the I see the rest of the new anime on offer this season so if this leaves the front page and I update it, I'll leave a message to let you all know. | The Spring Season gets into Full Swing | 615 dagen geleden | ||

| With many of the past seasons shows finished up or near the end of their run, this seasons shows are starting to appear. So what's on offer this season? Well, Blassreiter and Tower of Druga are being released by Gonzo and making a few waves in thier release method. On top of that, Macross Frontier, the first episode of which aired back in late '07, is begining it's run proper. Other new shows include XXXholic Kei; the second season of the popular supernatural anime, Bus Gamer; a show about three incompatible guys who must fight together in an underground competition to win a billion yen and Kurenai; the story of a boy who finds himself in charge of looking after a little girl and keeping her safe from those who want to harm her. These are only a selection of what's coming out this season but so far it looks like it's going to be a good line-up.
