Hey Folks,

Hows things? We're gonna be on STV News tonight (Tues 4th Augt) at 6pm. A wee interview and clip of a live acoustic song, filmed at the Belladrum site.

Were on at 9.15pm this Fri on the Seedlings Stage at Belladrum.
We'll be doing a live interview with MFR around 6.30pm from there

The album is now available from all good online stores(links on our Myspace page) aswell as from HMV in Inverness and some shops in Ross Shire (see last blog for a list)

We're playing this years Belladrum Festival on Fri 7th Aug. On at 9.15pm at the HAIL Seedlings Stage. :)

Thats the album done at last!. It was recorded by Winnie @ The North Highland College in Alness and Mixed, Produced and Mastered by Greg Kane from Hue and Cry. The launch is this fri (12th June) @ goNorth, 11:30pm, Mad Hatters, Inverness.

The first single from it is "Nowhere Left To Run" You can download it FREE from our myspace page (just scroll down a bit to find the link) http://www.myspace.com/theside05

The album will fully be released on Fri 19th June, priced at £7. It will be up on I-Tunes, HMV Online, etc. aswell as from the band and local shops. Tour dates are up on the page but there is still some more to be announced.

There's an Album Preview up on this page, will put some full songs up next week, so let us know what you think!. Hopefully catch some of you's at the Launch and on some of the tour dates.

you are all awesome awesome awesome and if it weren't for you all, we wouldn't have any direction or inspiration to write tunes, record them, gig them and try and make you buy them


seriously, thank you all so so so so much and please come to hoots on 12th june and repeat your performance.... you guys MADE the gig at oscars and it is quite literally, one of the most enjoyable gigs i have ever had in all the years and bands i have ever played with

our new album is launched on 12th june at the gonorth record company showcase at hoots.... please please please come along and go mental f*cking crazy and help us to convince some a&r dudes to give us loadsa money to play tunes forever!!!!!!

without you guys singing, dancing and going crazy, we are actually nothing and we totally totally appreciated every bit of the banter that you created for us all

i am currently getting pins and needles in our mastering studion in glasgow - no, it's not the music, it's the awkward position that i'm crammed in at the back of the room.... labourisoiusly listening to every nuance of every track, trying to perfect each tune for your pretty little ears

tbh, this is nothing compared to the endless hours of endurance that winnie, our singer and respected leader, had to put in in order to prepare us for this day, the finale of making the album

although muff, james and i all did our bits here and there, without winnie, there would be no album.... i personally do not have the know-how to do what he did, nor do i have the strength, but he guided us al through and has driven us to produce an album that we are awfully proud of..... personally, sitting here listening to these tnes, thinking about the awesome gigs wheere we've met loads of awesome people and having all this fun, could not be possible without the other 3 guys in this band.... these guys are ot only the potential key to my millions, but i also consider them to be my best friends (which is really respectable for them to achieve since i have so many :D :D )

the biggest thanks has to go to all you guys for making us want to play more, play better and dance our f*cking socks off

i seriously commend everyone who makes us smile with your energy and support

The second band, who were late due to a trip to the local butcher for a special, wasted no time in getting straight to it. The Ross-Shire four have played with the likes of Tim Burgess from the Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets and the Bluetones. The Bluetones influence certainly comes across in some of their songs yet with a more soulful voice, other tracks had a more reggae guitar bass and not to mention the sing along harmonies and brilliant piano licks that were apparent throughout - the keyboard player was not dissimilar to the 2008 RSMA Winner Klaus, kicking off his shoes and socks and jumping around the stage, a joy to watch.

We have been chosen to play at the Red Stripe Music Awards 09. We will play the Aberdeen Showcase in Moshulu on Sat 24th Jan. There will be 25 showcases around the UK, with 20 bands being picked from them to Perform at the Final in London in April. The Winner gets to play at The Great Escape Festival aswell as 2 other Major Summer Festivals.

We're currently writing new tunes and preparing for recording our debut album in Jan/Feb. We hope to have it out for the start of the summer :)

* The Side - Forever Changing
A GREAT band from the Highlands who all at once seem to be baggy, Britpop and Ben Folds Five wrapped up in pop melodies. There's sometimes even Acid House piano and Bon Jovi synths thrown in for good measure. They remind me of Irish band The Frank and Walters who could throw everything but the kitchen sink into a song with dazzling results. Forever Changing kicks off like a Britpop anthem with lyrics: "You are a victim of fashion/but I don't see what's the attraction/the songs you sing are overrated/there ain't no shame in being dated". It's a clever, uplifting tune which around the three minute mark breaks down into dance and even blues. Second tune Round Here is abit Toploader for me but the band led by singer and guitarist Hugh Winton swing up again with piano-led thump of The Circle which featured on the great Fat Hippy Records compilation.
The band play The Box, Glasgow on November 1 and Capitol, Glasgow on December 1.
