We've now confirmed the date and venue for the premier performance of David's musical comedy, The Hare And The Tortoise. It's going to be at Gilmorehill G12 in Glasgow on September 15 (time still to be confirmed but watch this space!).

The story is basically the one that Aesop wrote, but with a few additions - the hare challenges all the other forest animals to race him in the Forest Grand Prix, and the tortoise is the only one who accepts. The Fox, the Owl, the Unicorn, the Vegetarian Tiger, the Depressed Koala and the Pit Lane Birds all help steer the tale to an unlikely conclusion :)

Director: Steve Dollan
Musical Director: Alan Craig

Great to see an enthusiastic crowd for our concert at Gilmorehill G12. This was the first time for a while that we've performed with proper lighting, and it makes SUCH a difference - we were really pleased with the gradual fadeout at the end of Dido's Lament :)

Thanks to Rosie and Julia for their stage management, page turning, announcing, ticket collecting and CD/T-shirt selling. How DID they manage to do all that?

Nothing to report about snooker or scones this time.

Two more corporate gigs in the last couple of weeks, both in the lovely village of Contin near Inverness. Our audiences were on a Highlands and Islands Enterprise development course - great people, and a new bunch of good friends of Naked Opera. We made some excellent contacts and hopefully these will lead to some exciting new projects, so watch this space!

Scone Alert: the railway station in Fort William exceeded expectations, but in Pitlochry we found a place which sold only fruit scones. David not pleased >:(

Snooker match: David 1, Marco 0

Thanks for the comments, guys, but the girl in the picture is a model we employed for a photo shoot. And no, we don't have her number.

Although we don't advertise them in advance, we do a lot of corporate gigs, and we've just come back from doing one of them in the lovely little town of Brora, which is WAY up north. Another hour up the road and we'd have been looking at Orkney.

This is already being described as The Gig Where David Forgot His Suit. We didn't realise this until 6:45pm, at which point we had 15 minutes to make a 448-mile round trip to get it. Not practical, so while Alison went on in her usual glam rocker outfit, David looked like he'd been dragged through a hedge. There can't be many concerts where the page turner (Marco) is better-dressed than the pianist.

But we had a great time, with Alison explaining how she became a professional singer and David recounting the deaths and sex lives of various composers, plus half a dozen songs and a couple of piano solos.

The audience was GREAT, not only during the concert itself but also at the dinner afterwards, where we had a fantastic time and made a lot of new friends. Thanks everyone - you made us feel really at home and we look forward to meeting you all again soon.

We were a featured bebo band! Woo-hoo! Hi to everyone who came and had a look at our page after that happened :)

PS Thanks for your lovely messages, BabaRoss. At the moment you can only buy our CD through www.nakedopera.com - alternatively you could write to all the record companies demanding to know why they haven't signed us yet ;)
