| Break Up... | 415 dni temu | |||
| Hi everyone, I hope this finds you all well and happy. Not too long after our last show in Larne, when we released the East Coast Hardcore EP alongside This Years Confession and CauseForConcern, the four of us met up in Belfast (taking a short time out of our busy schedules...) to talk about absolutely everything. After a few hours of non stop discussion it was the decision of all four of us, as best friends and as band mates, that we should bring Crimson Fight to an end. The reasons for which aren't particularly dramatic. Nobody fell out (anything but), nobody had any kind of crisis, no 'artistic differences'. We felt collectively that the objectives that the band originally set out to achieve weren't being done with the same effectiveness any more. It was becoming a grind, and if you aren't enjoying yourself, why try to carry on as if nothing's wrong, possibly risking the loss of your best friends? We have had some absolutely great times over the last seven years (through the Dave's Not Here, Davesnothere, DxNxH and Crimson Fight eras respectively), and feel like the band has served its purpose. I guess it leaves us to say thank you; to everyone who supported us, played with us, recorded us, gave us a show, came to a show, took pictures, designed CDs, Designed posters and anyone who just gave us a chance. It's much appreciated, and it gave us the ability to go out and play music, make so many incredible friends and hopefully make people think. We want to say special thanks to the Larne faithful, (you all know who you are), who really got behind their local scene in the last year or so and made something that could still be awesome. All of a sudden bands are appearing out of nowhere, things are happening...don't let stupid fights and pointless grudges get in the way of unity. You're all ECHC at the end of the day. The songs from both of our EPs (and various older rarities) will probably end up for free download on our myspace at one time or another, and both of our CDs are still on sale through us, through our Myspace and through this Bebo. I'm sure it's not the last you've heard from the four of us musically anyway, keep watching this space. I don't think we'll ever truly grow up. God Bless the East Coast, love, Joel, Mark, Danny, Nelly (...Johnny, Paula, Dani, SC, Big Andy, Babs and the rest of the ExCxWx) | ||||

| Lisburn and Larne, the thanks list... | 604 dni temu | |||
| Hi everyone. Thank you to everybody who made the effort to come out to both of our shows this weekend. We had a blast at both of them, and hope we can hang out with you all again. Friday shout outs: BPP, good to meet you guys, and we look forward to our jaunt to Greenbelt this summer. Oh So Pretty, cheers as always for good times and a tight wee set. Gonna try to get down and see you on Wednesday up North. Kiri/Harry, thanks as always for coming out and supporting us. Jordon/Lauren, thanks for coming and talking to us...hope you got enough free signed junk. No broken bones this time! Free CD guy...I forgot your name sorry. Peter who came to see us before in Lisburn, Rab the speed drummer, Marc for snapping photos, Sanctuary (esp. P-Lo), cheers for another night in Lisburn, Tribe Of Judah bikers....legendary, Queasy and Joanne for trekking from the Ards Peninsula, Relentless Energy Drink for looking like beer, Nandos for being everything Joel and Mark ever dreamed of, the Westlink for being Joel and Mark’s worst nightmare. We talked to a lot of people, so sorry if I forgotted ye. Oh, and a special mention to ’so it is’ Traffic Warden, thanks for threatening Joel with the police and giving P Lo a ticket for parking in an empty sidestreet just ten minutes before the allowed time. Thanks for being a government monkey who can’t make a simple judgement call and let us go for parking to offload gear and do some good in your city. Thanks also, for being really easy to outsmart. You got East Coasted, chump. Saturday shout outs: Shotgun (Bobby, Jamo, Pete and Connah), thanks for kick starting something that could be really important in our town. Viva la Phoenix Nights. Here’s to many more. Breaking Stereos...are you sure that was your first show!? We will play together again. Soon. Everyone who came down to the show, I think you were a part of something special, and we really hope we could do our bit to make you guys have a fun time. Thanks to old friends, new friends and everyone else. Congratulations to Jimbo for winning the Hardcore Danceoff 2k8, and his ’star prize’. Sorry to all other entrants. We’re not liable for any damage incurred by stray windmills etc. The regulars at the Phoenix, thanks for putting up with ’that thump thump’ for an evening. We’ll be back. And louder. Sorry. On a serious note, we came to a verdict after the show that we have never played a more fun set to a better crowd ever. We’ve been doing this junk for around seven years now. Our ExC (and further afield) community is an important thing that we should all support. I know that it’s definately helped you guys through a lot of tough crap, and it’s built a lot of tight friendships and brother/sisterhoods that simply just don’t exist in other places. Never let anyone tell you that you aren’t important. Many towns and many kids (including us at 13) would have killed for what we have now. Hold fast. Don’t let stupid crap get in the way of what you have. Seeya at the next show, Joel, Mark, Nelly, Danny Crimson Fight | ||||

| March Gigs and CD News... | 631 dni temu | |||
| Just to fill you all in on the latest, the end of this month sees us travelling back to the KLC in Lisburn to support the UK mainland's own Back Pocket Prophet (Friday 28th March). Hopefully we can bring the rock to the 'burn once again, and go home without having to do a stop off at casualty and eat cold sausages. The cold sausages part wasn't compulsory, you understand. If you're our Lisburn mate, and even if you're not, come on down and say hi...but bring your own pocket-rags this time. Our's aren't for sale. Sorry. The night after that sees us back on home turf, as the nice, KFC loving, and not to mention good looking Shotgun guys have invited us to support them at the Phoenix Club alongside newcomers Breaking Stereos (who are probably quite good looking too). It should be a mega-tight night of rock and/or roll and looking good. Not to mention being good-looking. Too much? In other news, the new CD (preview tracks on main myspace page) is getting there. Paula 'Shoneyclothes' Shone has done really good at being the legend she is as usual, and hopefully we'll have something to sell before summer. We have some really sweet ideas for this CD. We're getting them pressed and releasing them in proper boxes, but each one will be unique. No two the same. We might even number them. DIY ethic. Hardcore's Not Dead? Speak to you all soon, and please understand that this blog is the first real human contact I've had today...so forgive the excitability. | Taking the ExCx to England this summer! | 658 dni temu | |||
| Hey guys, I got a call from the awesome Dave Williams from Meltdown this week, confirming our spot on the Hard Music stage at Greenbelt festival this year. The festival runs from the 22nd-25th August at Cheltenham Racecourse. Details are somewhat sketchy at the moment, but any info will go right here as soon as we know more. This is really exciting for us, so any friends in England who are going to Greenbelt this year let us know and we'll hook up and dance fo' sho'. That's all I got for now, ECL's Joel x | ||||

| How's everyone doing? For those of you who can't get along to one of our shows, and would like to get your hands on some stompy east coast hardcore for the low low price of six dollars (around three pounds!), good news. cdbaby.com is now stocking the deliverance ep, and they ship internationally at a really good rate. This is a sweet chance to get your grubby mits on Deliverance, because once they're gone they're gone. Things that are out of print are cool... Check it out, the full address is http://cdbaby.com/cd/crimsonfight ...and while you're there, buy Embers by Still Small Voice (RIP)...a piece of local music history which is almost impossible to get hold of these days! We'd like to thank our friend P-Lo over at Sanctuary N.I. for the hook-up, and his constant support as always. Thanks dude! East Coast Affection, Joel x | ||||

| Antrim A&E: the new hardcore... | 703 dni temu | |||
| Joel here. So, thanks to everyone who came to the show in Lisburn and watched our set, came and spoke to us, or was generally nice. You rule. Before we went on, me, Danny, Mark and Nelly were in the backstage hall eating McDonalds and hanging out. Has anyone ever seen that guitarist spinny stunt some bands do, where one guitarist bends over whilst playing and the other kind of hops and rolls over their back with their legs in the air also whilst playing? Like a cartwheel? Paramore do it. Well, if you don't know what I'm talking about go and make a cup of tea or something. This blog doesn't really matter. I was convinced I could do it. Utterly convinced. So I duly threw on my white Epiphone and told nelly to bend over right in the middle of the hall. Mistake number 1: ask nelly to be the support. I took a run up. Mistake number 2: there is absolutely no need to take a run up. I jumped really hard backwards and lifted my legs, with one hand holding my guitar. Point of no return: fat guy jumping over fat guy with too much momentum. Consequence. I fell. Hard. So hard. Right onto my lower left leg. Ankle, then shin, then knee. My guitar went flying, along with Nelly. Picture me, with my legs in the air, facing the roof, with a guitar on, just dropping out of the sky. When I managed to get myself back to my feet I couldn't feel a thing in my leg apart from sharp pain and pins and needles. Then we had to play a show, with 5 foot stage jumps. Two of them. And hardcore stomps. Compulsory. Fast forward about 4 hours to 2am, and myself and mark find ourselves in Antrim area hospital, where the student doctor lady touched me far too much and a drunk cultchie with a heavily bleeding arsehole (don't ask) informed us that 'She was worth ERRRBOOOYY!' The docs told me I might have a hairline fracture in my shin, I may have torn cartilage in my knee and I've sprained my ankle. I have to rest it for a while. I haven't rested it yet. Painkillers are sweet. See you all for the acoustic show in Larne in January. Keep it here for details. It'll be fun. J xx | ||||

| News on next few gigs, acoustic set, UK tour, new cd, radio... | 712 dni temu | |||
| What's going on guys? I hope you feel as good as me to be off work and uni/school for Christmas. This is a general Crimson Fight newsletter just to let you know what's going on in our colourful imagination filled lives in the run up to Christmas. -The next gig is next Friday night (the 21st) in St. Mark's COI, Ballymacash, Lisburn. We're on the bill for a diabetes fundraiser being headlined by some of Lisburns finest live music. Keep it here for exact details in the few days prior to the show, and if you could make it up to hang out with us that would be real cool. -Also confirmed is a Crimson Fight ACOUSTIC set (yes, seriously) in Larne on January 3rd. It's gonna be entirely different than our last two shows in Larne, consisting of a few covers and whatever else we can throw together. It's gonna happen in a cafe setting, and is being headlined by our long, long-time friend Aaron Ferris. If you like your music well written and catchy as frig you really don't wanna miss this one...yeah, I'm talking about Aaron. It'll be an informal affair, so come down for the craic. Specific details in the next week. -We're heading out with our friends Sanctuary NI for a Northern Irish six counties tour, starting in March 2008 and leading through till the summer. There will be one show per county (Antrim, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Londonderry, Armagh, Down)...and yes, I did that off the top of my head...so check back for specific dates to see when we're coming to a place near yoooooo. Speaking of which... -Yes, there have been rumblings for a while, but work is about to begin on putting together our jaunt to the UK mainland in the Summer of 2008, with the possibility of a couple of festival appearances. I can't really say anything yet, but for anyone in England/Scotland/Wales, keep em' peeled here in the new year. If you can offer any kind of assistance please let us know! -As you know, the new CD is DONE. Our first promotional single from it, entitled 'I guess we have different ideas about forever' will most likely see the light of day for the first time next week (see bullet below), and after that it will most likely go on myspace and bebo, with a sight to releasing it in some format or another in early 2008. -For anyone in the Larne area, keep your ears peeled to Chaine FM, Larne's own radio station for the first play of our new song mentioned above. It'll most likely happen some time in the next week. Details here as we get em'. Sorry for the vagueness of everything mentioned above, but really it's just a ruse to make you come back here lots to see if we've gained any competence. Yeah, that's the excuse. ECL's. J x | ||||
