| EXODUS - GUITARIST GARY HOLT "NEXT ALBUM WILL BLOW PEOPLE'S MINDS" The German edition of Metal Hammer magazine conducted an interview with guitarist Gary Holt of San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS at this year's installment of the Graspop Metal Meeting ( http://www.metal-hammer.de/Exodus_Ga... ), which was held on June 26-28, 2009 on the festival grounds of the Boeretang in Dessel, Belgium. When asked about EXODUS' plans for a new studio album, Holt said, "Hopefully we're hitting the studio around November 1 with Mr. Sneap [British producer Andy Sneap; MEGADETH, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY]. It's gonna be sick. We have four [songs] recorded [and left over] from the last session [for 2007's 'The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A'], and I've got, like, nine [other tracks] I'm working on, and Lee [Altus, guitar] has a bunch of stuff. But this next album is gonna blow people's minds." Regarding the upcoming CD's musical direction, Holt said, "There's a couple of twists on this. I try not to repeat every album. I mean, we did 'Tempo Of The Damned' [2004], [which was] a little more old-school, and we did 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' [2005], which was really brutal and fast, and then 'The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A' [2007], [which] was, like, longer and more epic songs. So this album's gonna have some different stuff to it. Maybe a little more dual-guitar stuff, 'cause I've been playing with Lee for quite awhile now — a little more dual-guitar harmony shred stuff." | EXODUS + BELPHEGOR TEAM UP FOR APRIL/MAY NORTH AMERICAN TOUR | 255 dagen geleden | ||
| Bay Area thrashers EXODUS will return in early 2009 (in support of their latest album, The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A) as direct support for German thrashers, Kreator. Opening bands will come from Austria's BELPHEGOR (Nuclear Blast) touring in support of their latest album, Bondage Goat Zombie, and California's Warbringer (Century Media). EXODUS also announced 15 off-date shows during this upcoming tour. All tickets are now on sale through all ticketing outlets. To make things easier for the fans, EXODUS have provided several purchase link options for each of the dates of this tour. They can all be seen on the bands MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/exodus). (Scroll towards the middle left side). EXODUS guitarist/songwriter Gary Holt checks in from his home in Northern California with the following: "If you can believe it, we've NEVER toured with Kreator even though Mille and I go WAY back. We've played occasional festivals together and played 5 shows back in '97 on Summer Metal Meeting with them. We've always had a LOT of fun with them, so I'm looking forward to spending time with old friends Kreator, new friends Warbringer, and soon-to-be-good-friends Belphegor. We're pretty damned happy to be playing nine shows in Canada because Canadian cities tend to get overlooked. The last time we were in Winnipeg, Calgary, and another city which I can't remember right now, those shows were full of 17-year-olds and they went insane. Those dates were the best on that tour!" EXODUS' next album, The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit B is due out by Summer 2009. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Purchase The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A at: BUY - NB USA https://store.nuclearblastusa.com/se... | Exodus plays with Carcass at Exhumed to Consume II tour | 291 dagen geleden | ||
| Reunited U.K. melo-death/gore-grind legends, CARCASS, will return to the United States this March for the “Exhumed to Consume II” tour. The follow up to last years highly successful “Exhume to Consume” tour will feature SUICIDE SILENCE, SAMAEL, ARSIS and PSYCROPTIC plus a few special guests on select dates. Vocalist/bassist and all around optimistic person Jeff Walker commented: "Well, I'm pleased to announce that CARCASS is gonna settle it's unresolved scores in the U.S.! There was some slight whimpers of discontent that we didn't hit some cities such as Chicago and Denver last time round - places that were always hot spots of enthusiasm for us. So we're coming back in March to finish off our unsettled business! We seemed to have had a profound influence on your economy and gas prices have gotten cheaper haha! That's doesn't mean we’re not gonna come through and provide some value for your buck with some old (and new) school friends and comrades such as SUFFOCATION, SAMAEL, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EXODUS, SUICIDE SILENCE etc. - check out locally as for who is on the bill where! And hey...I couldn't think of anywhere better to be on my 40th birthday than the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We promise this will be the last time we darken your shores (I said that with my fingers crossed behind my back)!" In February of 1999, CARCASS drummer Ken Owen suffered a near-fatal brain hemorrhage, leaving him in a coma for over 10 months. As a result, he is not taking part in CARCASS' current reunion run (ARCH ENEMY skinsman Daniel Erlandsson is filling in), but will reportedly be traveling with the band whenever possible and making brief appearances at select shows. CARCASS' reunion lineup: Bill Steer (FIREBIRD) - Vocals, Guitar Jeff Walker (BRUJERIA) - Vocals, Bass Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY) - Guitar Daniel Erlandsson (ARCH ENEMY) – Drums | |||

| EXODUS PICKS DRUMMER NICK BARKER FOR EUROPEAN TOUR | 310 dagen geleden | ||
| EXODUS guitarist/songwriter Gary Holt has sent in the following band update: “Hey everybody, what's up! First, here's hoping everybody has an excellent holiday weekend and a safe New Year. Whatever makes you happy, enjoy it! We’re getting excited for the next year, as it should prove to be most awesome all the way around. Next, I’ll be attending the NAMM Convention on Friday the 16th of January, then I begin producing the new Warbringer record on January 19th. Their new songs are totally ripping and I am stoked to have been asked to work on this record. People are going to dig this disc for sure! Then on February 18th, we’re off to Europe for a co-headlining tour with our good old friends in Overkill, capped off with our return to Greece (finally!). For this Overkill tour, we will be without the services of [drummer] Mr. Tom Hunting on this one, as he had a well-planned in advance, paid for, and non-refundable vacation to México that has been in the works since last April-May. He will take many pictures of paradise for all to see! So while he will be sipping a drink on a sunny beach, we will be in a stinky, beer-and-piss-soaked club. Exactly where I want to be! So on this European tour, I would like to welcome our good friend Mr. Nick Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth, ex-Testament, ex-Dimmu Borgir), who will be holding down the drum throne! Nick is one of the baddest dudes to ever hit things with sticks, so we’re happy as hell he agreed to join this lunatic parade for a short while! There will be many bottles of Old Number [Jack Daniels] 7 vanishing down our guts for sure! Have no fear, Tom will be back - a bit more tanned I'm sure - and then we will be off and running with Kreator for two months in the U.S. and Canada. See you all soon.” EXODUS European tour dates featuring Nick Barker on drums: Feb 20 Carling Academy Islington, London UK Feb 21 De Pul, Uden Netherlands Feb 22 Atak, Enschede Netherlands Feb 23 Colos Saal, Aschaffenburg Germany Feb 24 Markthalle, Hamburg Germany Feb 25 Zeche, Bochum Germany Feb 27 Bikini, Barcelona Spain Feb 28 Sala Live, Madrid Spain March 1 Nave 8, Alicante Spain March 3 Z7, Pratteln Switzerland March 4 Rolling Stone, Milan Italy March 5 Spectrum, Augsburg Germany March 6 Novesta Hall – Metal Mania Festival, Zlin CzechRepublic March 7 Stodola – Metal Mania Festival, Warsaw Poland *Overkill & Exodus only* March 8 Gargarin 205, Athens Greece *with Entombed & Sabbat* | |||

| BAY AREA THRASH PIONEERS EXODUS RE-SIGN WITH NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS | 553 dagen geleden | ||
| Taking a break from writing the band’s follow-up to 2007’s The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A in his home in northern California, guitarist / songwriter Gary Holt shares the latest slab of good news from the EXODUS camp: "Hey all, just kicking back at home for a bit before we head over to Europe late July, but I am pleased to announce that EXODUS have re-signed to Nuclear Blast! We have been working on this since last October and I am happy to say that we'll continue our relationship with the greatest label in metal for some time to come! It's good to be with a label that we can call home after so many different stops along our career and we are psyched to move even further into the future. There is no telling how heavy things can get!" The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit B is due out later this year. | |||

| Hi everybody, Our sincere apologies to all of you who weren't contacted, before they were removed as a band member, moderator or before their band profile was removed. In advance Bebo checked the respective profiles that were being taken over by Nuclear Blast Records for inactivity. The policy of Bebo prohibits taking over active profiles without contacting the creator. So any profile, which was taken over without any notice to the creator, has not been accessed in a period longer than 3 months. In case our assumptions concerning the inactivity of your profiles were wrong, again our apologies to everybody, affected by this step. We hope you can understand the label's obligation to our artists, to maintain their copyrights and publicity. Hands down, you have made the biggest step of all, by creating really successful and beautiful Bebo profiles. Thank you very much, as well on behalf of our artists. We really appreciate your time and efforts you have spent in creating and maintaining the profiles. Thanks. Multiple unofficial band profiles, however, are quite confusing and not helpful for fans to get an update on the most recent news about the band. Finally, we hope that you will continue to stay active on Bebo and enjoy the music of your favorite bands. Cheers, Nuclear Blast Records \m/ | |||

| In 1983, founding member Kirk Hammett left Exodus to join Metallica and was replaced by guitarist Rick Hunolt and Rob McKillop replaced Andrews on bass. This lineup released the classic title Bonded by Blood (1985) sometimes cited as an influence on up-and-coming bands of the era. Shortly before the release of Pleasures of the Flesh (1987), Paul Baloff left and was replaced by Steve "Zetro" Souza, who also sang for Legacy, a band that developed into Testament. Exodus' line-up remained stable for the next few albums, but the band never garnered the success of their peers, such as Metallica and Megadeth. After two fairly heavy releases (Fabulous Disaster and Impact is Imminent), the band released their first live effort, Good Friendly Violent Fun. After the release of 'Good Friendly Violent Fun, the band toured spraticly for a year and released another studio album, Force of Habit. This album was a departure for the band, containing several slower, "heavier" songs with less emphasis on the speed/thrash basis of their older material. The 10-minute-plus song "Architect of Pain", was probably the slowest song Exodus ever recorded. After a few quiet years when heavy metal itself was going through many changes, Exodus released only another live effort, Another Lesson in Violence featuring the return of vocalist Paul Baloff. Exodus disintegrated again, partly due to a falling out with record label Century Media over the way the live album was promoted, and over an aborted attempt at a live concert video which was filmed but never released due to a financial dispute. In 2001, Exodus reformed again, initially to play the Chuck Billy benefit, the Thrash of the Titans mega concert. There was talk of recording a new studio album and the band continued to play local gigs in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Sadly, in February 2002, Paul Baloff suffered a seizure/stroke and died. Former vocalist Steve Souza was recruited back into the band to finish the rest of their concert commitments. Although it appeared to outsiders that with Baloff's death Exodus would cease to exist, guitarist Gary Holt was determined to release a new studio record. The result was 2004's Tempo of the Damned released on Nuclear Blast Records. An oddity of the recording sessions was that one track, "Crime Of The Century", was dropped under mysterious circumstances. The song chronicled Exodus' time under Century Media (of which Nuclear Blast is a subsidiary). Although it was publicly denied, rumors swirled that Century Media forced the song off the record. "Crime" was replaced with "Impaler"; a song written back when Kirk Hammett was still in the band, and which was featured on the Another Lesson In Violence live record. In 2005, Hunolt decided to leave the band to concentrate on his family life, although Holt claims it was because of his supposed meth addiction. He was replaced by ex-Heathen guitarist Lee Altus. Tom Hunting also left, citing medical problems, and was replaced by Paul Bostaph, formerly of Forbidden, Slayer and Testament, among others. Souza also left under disputed terms in 2005, and was replaced by Steev Squivel (ex-Defiance and Skinlab), and then Rob Dukes whose first recorded performance for the band is 2005's Shovel Headed Kill Machine. Rumors swirled that the reason for Steve Souza's departure was a dispute during a show in New Jersey. Sources say that three minors ran away from home to attend the show and the band was notified and was well aware of this before their set. Souza insisted that the police should be notified but the band let it slide and went on with the show; this apparently led to Souza's departure. The ensuing tour for the latest album has led to extensive touring of the US and Europe, as well as Japan, their first-ever visit to Australia and much more. [edit] Members | |||
