Fondoo...and ensuing pub quiz!!??436 dagen geleden

That's right; the vast majority of you missed quite a spectacle last night....
No one would have believed that we managed to get Richard Burton to narrate this blog-no! But seriously, no one would have ever believed that the combination of half-rehearsed (if you were extremely lucky) songs and a complimentary Pub Quiz would ever match up to the standards of Ernie Wise and Eric Morcambe, or Amy Winehouse and tabloid papers, but....it kinda did!
On offer as the grand prize for such a quiz was none other than...THE GOLDEN TEAPOT, plus (more importantly, one could argue) a copy of our wonderful EP "We're Watching You"...which reminds me, I should stop plugging it so shamelessy, as we actually don't have any more copies to sell now :(
Anyhoo, 4 lucky people (2 of them, by sheer chance, happened to be parents of 'the group') won lovely goody bags, and for one Chris Shaw, the humble tea-break has been transformed into a carat-based thing of beauty!
Oh, yeah, and we played a set of 'pop tunes', virtually none of which we had ever played before ("It kinda shows that this is literally the first time we've ever played that!"). Details of aforementioned set can be found below.
Thanks to everyone who came :L , and let this be the beginning of a new (and, frankly, bizzare) direction for the band!

Set:
"Head On"-Jesus and Mary Chain
"Breathe"-Pink Floyd'; in memory of Richard Wright RIP
"Dead Butterfly Blues"
"Be My Baby"-The Ronettes
"Lovers or Friends...?"
"Hands (of Power)"-The Raconteurs/Buckethead

Calling all local musicians!449 dagen geleden

This afternoon, I heard "Angel Fingers" by Wizzard on the radio, and it brought me to something of a revelation, as I will now describe:
For a while now, I have often dreamed of writing a Spector-esque 'Wall-of-Sound' song, but have shyed away from the idea due to the belief that I didn't have the resources ie. I can't play all those orchestral instruments. So, as I listened to said Wizzard song this eafternoon, I explained my dilemma to my mum, who was present at the time. She reminded me of the obvious factor that I have, for some reason, neglected: I have so many friends/associates who can play various instruments! Encouraged by this, I have begun writing/scoring a piece of music that will become my Spector/Wizzard song.

So, basically, I'm putting a call out to ANYBODY who can play ANYTHING, and I shall try and incorporate all the various instruments into this piece and, if you're willing, I'll give you the sheet music, and you can come and take part in the recording.

Who's in?
