The Tunnels - 16th February641 dni temu

Our first gig of 2008 was a pretty low-key affair at the Tunnels. We hadn't practised for literally 2 months til that very day, so you can't grumble with the overall performance. In a bit of a stramash of a gig, we played alongside indie-poppers and fellow Foyer-botherers The Condiments, punk-pop band Valentine and a heavy metal act that I never caught the name of. The big mix of genres worked better than anyone expected I think, and we raised plenty of money for either the British Heart Foundation or the Medics Having Fun Society... :-)

7 oldish favourites were shown the light of day, but there is new material in the pipeline for our gigs in March and beyond.

Cafe Drummonds812 dni temu

Ah, another night at Aberdeen's favourite Cafe that isn't remotely a Cafe, Drummonds.
We needed a confidence booster after the slightly shambolic Wizard show and we got it.
Arguably our best gig so far, playing 7 tracks including a couple of new ones - the cunningly entitled "New" and the very nice "Release", both of which are destined for our album.
We even made some new friends, especially the Australian guy who rated us something rotten!
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, hope y'all enjoyed yourselves.

Err.. we weren't great. Struggling to find a guitar that could hold its tuning, the first couple of songs were shaky to say the least.
We ralleighed though, and managed to finish off quite strongly.
Still, it was a nice wee experience and hopefully next year, we'll have done enough to merit a spot on the Banshee Stage!
A wee note on our performance from Waves Fm -

"Amplified Battle of the Bands finalists Headlight took to the stage at around 7.15pm, and although their set was marred by technical difficulty, the equipment behaved long enough for the New Deer four-piece to showcase exactly what they’re capable of, even allowing keyboard player Fraser Will to break out the bassoon on one track. Their finest moment came in closing track Rise and Fall, with a sterling vocal performance from frontman Ewan Donald. Their Half Truth EP is out now, and with an album due at the end of the year, Headlight could yet prove to be a name to watch in the local scene and beyond."

Nice.

Another first, this time at Aberdeen's premier rock n' roll bar, The Moorings. Stepping in at the very last, we played to a largely unfamilliar audience who seemed to warm to us. It was a great night, where we underlined our rockier sound by airing some exciting new songs. There's an album in the pipelines y'know...

Yeah man. Two gigs in Aberdeen to date, both in the Lemon Tree.. not a bad record.
There wasn't as big a groupie turnout as we had hoped, but we did ever so well, sold a lot of our brand new EPs, and it was probably our best performance to date.
Thanks to everyone who came along, bought a CD, and made it one to remember. See you again soon!

It was a first for us, and it went relatively well.

Minus a bassist, and playing a set of over an hour for the first time ever, we tried our best. The previous weeks had been spent furiously writing songs to fill the set - but we succeeded in carrying on our tradition of not playing covers. Ever.

The atmosphere at 2pm in the Buchanhaven was by no means electric, and the early stages were hampered by Muzzi's temperamental new pedal. Yet, we did bring our music to another corner of the North East, which can only be a good thing. We felt we finished particularly strong, with well-worn favourites Sober and Rise and Fall. Cheers for everyone who came to see us, and see you all again on the 8th!
