| Hey y'all, Just a quick hello from all at The Underkills HQ... No imminent gigs or releases or anything like that, but just to let you know that we had our first "proper" practice for months last week, and we're right back at it. Some cracking new songs are being written/worked on, and we are already on the verge of a complete new set, which is rather exciting. The new set will obviously take time to come together, so there probably won't be any gigs till 2010, but we promise it will be worth the wait...! Some new song titles to whet your appetite... Sunset Song Watching You Thom Yorke, Thom Yorke Stormy Wonder Darkened Thoughts Nothing Surprises Me To name just a few... Some were initially written ages ago, but have never been completed, some are totally new. We've got a fine mix of songwriting going on now as well. Still mostly Calum's lyrics, but Elphi has started putting pen to paper on some of his own compositions. David is still writing killer riffs, which we will hopefully transform into killer songs, as well as a few great songs and Calum has added to his lyrics by writing some music to go with it. All we need to do now is get some of Alan's lyrics incorporated into songs... Keep an eye on myspace / facebook / bebo / etc for news of any upcoming gigs / news. | Alright folks? Not quite the last Underkills gig, but it will be the last one for a good 6 months (at least). We are going into hiding to work on new songs, and see where it takes us. We will hopefully come back at you with an award winning album..... time will tell..... For now though, we have the small affair of supporting 90's Britpop legends, Dodgy at Moshulu on Saturday 29th November. If you're wondering who the hell Dodgy are, they were the band with the great summery hit records such as "Staying Out For the Summer", "Good Enough" and "In A Room". After a long break from the music scene, the original line-up have got back together, and have started recording and releasing new records. Check them out here - www.myspace.com/dodgyuk - to refresh your memory! This will be the last gig we play in Aberdeen for at least 6 months, so it would be great to see you there!! If you haven't seen us before, this is a great chance to come and see what we're all about - there will be some songs that will more than likely never be played live again, because we hope to be back with bigger and better songs! Equally, if you have seen us before, it would be ace if you could make it along one more time before we go into hibernation, as you never know, your favourite Underkills tune may never be heard live again...! We're hoping this will top off a great year for the band. This year we've done some amazing things! A few of the highlights have been playing our first gig in Edinburgh at "intimate" venue Henry's Cellar Bar, headlining a charity doo at Moshulu and raising nearly £800 for NSPCC/Childline, starting our own clubnight at Lemon Tree, and the absolute high for us so far was headlining the Banshee Stage at Wizard Festival (thanks to everyone who came out in force to support us that night in New Deer!), and appearing on the same bill as the likes of Supergrass, Roddy Woomble (Idlewild), the Damned, Dykeenies, Cinematics, Chris Helme (Seahorses), and see some of our friends' bands playing as well!! We didn't think we would top last year to be honest, but we did, and hopefully next year will be even better for us!! The clubnight runs from 9pm-1am with Indie/Rock DJ's giving you the best tunes from around the globe and within the city of Aberdeen, and there will be four live performances from four of the best local acts around!! | Well Wizard mark 2 has been and gone, and it was bigger and better than last year!! The fun started on the campsite, when we acquired loads of new fans who helped to spread the word, David got interviewed by STV, and then we headlined the Banshee Stage, and had our own little acoustic gig in our gazebo in the campsite on Friday night with guest appearances by the Little Kicks, some random who I spotted on stage with Proud Mary (!), and some guy from the Broch who writes dodgier lyrics than David............................ and all that was just on Friday!! On Saturday, there was slightly less action, but Eskimo Blonde, the Little Kicks and Kashmir Red were all brilliant!! The gazebo couldn't withstand the wind any longer and collapsed in a heap, almost taking Noddy with it.....! The Underkills headlined the Banshee Stage on Friday night and it really was quite special.......... it was so good to walk out onstage and see the place absolutely ram-packed!! The tent was more than twice the size of the acoustic tent last year but we still packed it out despite clashing with Idlewild's Roddy Woomble!!! It was just a pity that everything was running late and we ended up clashing with Supergrass, which some folk just couldn't resist!! Massive thank you to everyone who came to see us, even if just for the first half of the set!! I don't think anyone will argue with Plastic being the best song of the entire weekend!  "Who the f*ck are Supergrass? Who the f*ck are Supergrass?" We will be seeing you next year, hopefully on an even bigger stage, with an even bigger crowd!!!! Bring it on! Remember to come and see us at Club Snafu on Thursday 4th September, and at Lemon Tree on Friday 17 October, when we headline Aberdeen's newest clubnight, "Indie-cent Exposure"!!
