| Wheatus.com renovation... April Showers opens TOMORROW! | 230 Tage her | |||
| Hello interweb friends... We write to you today as a friendly reminder that TOMORROW, April 24th, is the theatrical release date for April Showers. For those of you who don't know, April Showers is an independent film that was written and directed by Andrew Robinson, a survivor of the Columbine High School massacre that happened almost exactly 10 years ago. The film is based on his experiences there and what the aftermath of the shooting was like for the survivors. This film also happens to feature TWO Wheatus songs, both of which are brand new and one of which was written specifically for the film. It's a project we are truly honored to be a part of, and with or without us, this film is definitely worth seeing. It's opening in a very limited number of theaters, so please check with www.aprilshowersmovie.com to see if it's playing somewhere near you. If it isn't, fear not. As part of a new indie marketing strategy, the film will be available on iTunes for digital download starting May 5th. Pre-orders for DVD/Blu-Ray are also currently taking place, and those will start shipping soon as well. Currently there is no international shipping for DVD/Blu-Ray, but we're investigating a few options and will get back to you soon. By the way, if you live in the NYC area, just about all of Wheatus will be attending the 7:35pm showing at The Pavillion Theater in Brooklyn. We'll get some drinks afterwards too. Come hang with us. Both songs from this film will be a part of The Lightning EP, which we can now officially announce will be digitally dropping on June 1st of this year. The Lightning EP is Volume 1 of a much larger collection of songs, called Pop, Songs & Death. We're hoping to release these Volumes seasonally, and are already in pre-production for Volume 2, which should be available this winter. On June 1st, you will be able to download The Lightning EP from wheatus.com through a pay-what-you-like system in a variety of formats, including ultra high-resolution DSD audio playback for use with Sony PS3. If that sounds intimidating, don't worry, we'll also have it in MP3, Apple Lossless, WMA Lossless, and FLAC. Though people can choose to pay nothing for the songs, people who are willing to make a minimal donation will be able to receive a pair of bonus tracks, as well as other exclusive content. The Lightning EP will eventually be available through all major digital retailers, such as iTunes, Amazon, etc., but the bonus tracks will be exclusive to wheatus.com. And speaking of wheatus.com, we have just had a MAJOR makeover there to prepare for all the new stuff that's going on. Take a gander and let us know what you think. Finally, are you following us on Twitter yet??? http://twitter.com/wheatus is quickly becoming THE place to get the most up-to-date information on us. We post there every day, and we try to respond to any and all questions you may have for us. And if you're really lucky, maybe you'll be able to catch Brendan on there, drunk, tweeting as he watches There Will Be Blood. It's 158 minutes of primo entertainment, I assure you. That's it for today. It was so nice getting to catch up with you all... let's do it again soon! It's a date. matthew wheatus | ||||

| New Wheatus music featured in upcoming film "April Showers" | 245 Tage her | |||
| Hey everyone... So we've been pretty vague on this for a while, but it's finally time to come clean. There is a movie coming out later this month called April Showers. It's based on the true story of the Columbine High School massacre that took place in Jefferson County, Colorado on April 20, 1999. This film was written and directed by Andrew Robinson, a former Columbine student and an actual survivor of the shooting. The trailer for the film can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDVmB... We were contacted by Andrew and his producer Jenna Edwards some time ago, and they originally were asking permission to use Love Is A Mutt From Hell in one scene. We were flattered and though the project sounded terrific, so we started working on re-recording the song for them (to avoid involving Columbia Records). We kept in touch throughout the process, and at some point, Brendan sent Andrew a few of our new demos. Turns out he liked them even more, and instead of using Love Is A Mutt for that scene, they instead wound up taking a brand new song called "You And Your Stoopid Guitar." This was very exciting for us. And then it got even better. The song they had planned on using for the dramatic closing sequence of the film wound up not working out, and we were asked if we could write a new, original song specifically for the scene. The end result is "Now," a song that Brendan and I put together by ourselves in a 2-day marathon recording session. We shipped it off, they approved, and now the film opens and closes with two brand new Wheatus songs. Amazing. We couldn't be more proud of being a part of this project. All the people involved with the movie have been incredibly kind, and it's been a real privilege getting to work with them. Brendan and I are heading to Los Angeles in a few days to attend the premier of the film... we'll report back and let you know how it goes. The American release date is currently April 24th... just 4 days after the 10 year anniversary of the tragedy... and the list of theaters that will be showing the film is ever growing. Please go check in at http://www.aprilshowersmovie.com/ for tons more information. The film will be available on DVD/Blu-Ray, as well as digitally through the iTunes store, for those of you unable to see it in theaters. There should also be information on a soundtrack for the film, which will contain the two aforementioned tracks AND Real Girl, coming very soon. That's it for now, you guys... but there's plenty more news regarding Wheatus music AND movies featuring Wheatus music that is still forthcoming. Not to mention a complete overhaul of Wheatus.com. We're seriously working hard over here... and we're excited to absolutely bombard you guys with new stuff. matthew wheatus | ||||

| Hey all. We recently finished a super politically charged track with our good friend MC Lars. It's called Change The World (Black Precedent) and it's about Barack Obama and his run for the US Presidency. Yep. The rest is pretty well explained by the song. The video was directed by me (Matthew Milligan) and the song was written by Brendan Brown and MC Lars. Check it out and spread it around. We need your help with this one. Do it!!!! matthew wheatus | ||||

Now we're home and we're gonna start work on our new album next week... which should come out next year and contain a crazy amount of songs. I think we're shooting for 45. We're very excited about it and we'll keep you up-to-date through the whole process. Speaking of that... we've begun an official video webcast that will now get posted on this page whenever it is made. The most recent episode is currently in our player... check it out!!! Lastly, we have one upcoming show... a hometown show in Brooklyn, NY where we will celebrate the final Wheatus show with backing vocalist Liz Brown, who will be leaving the band after 6 years. We are so sad to see her go, but wish her the best in all her upcoming endeavors (keep your eyes open for a solo album!) and cannot wait to have the most fun farewell show in history! | Good To Go Tour is WRAPPED. | 905 Tage her | |||
| Well... we did it. Another tour has come and gone, and we're once again sitting at home, eating pizza, playing Nintendo Wii, and waiting for the next tour to begin (at least that's what I'm doing). This tour was especially fun, because we got the amazing opportunity to play as MC Lars' backing band every night. Anyone who's seen his set knows it's pretty amazing and always a great time, so it was a privilege to be a part of it. Plus he's pretty much the funniest guy in the world. We love him. We were also privileged to get to tour with Army of Freshmen again, one of the best live bands EVER. Anyone who's seen them knows it's true. AND we got to meet and play with Punchline, who also rock supremely hard and are super cool dudes. Getting to tour with such great bands and great people makes it that much better, and we love all of them for helping make this tour such a blast. Be sure to go out and support MC Lars, Army of Freshmen, and Punchline in whatever way you can. Although, if you came to any shows, I'm sure I don't even need to tell you that. Mostly though, we want to thank the fans, who simply rule all. Everyone who came out to see us, whether it was with the Good to Go tour, the smaller headlining tour we did afterwards, or BOTH (some of you showed up so many times it seemed almost impossible!). The response every night was nothing short of incredible, and getting to meet and hang out with so many of you was really great. I miss it already. But anyway, thanks so much for the support everyone. It seems to just keep getting better and better. We can't wait to see you all again next time. So when will it be next time? For now, we're home and getting started with the preliminary stages of recording... it's all very exciting, and we'll have more information about this soon. There are currently no official touring plans, but anything can happen. We'll let you know as soon as we find out. Thanks again. We love you all and we'll see you very soon. matt wheatus | ||||
