| The Tune into Traffic Music Competition is hotting up! We've had lots of entries which is bound to make my life as a judge that little bit harder! However, there will be no Simon Cowell tendencies used here as every entry is not only a contribution to the campaign but also signifies that young people have heard the campaign's message! The judging will commence on Wednesday 13th May and if you still want to enter your track there's still time! Thanks so much for all the interest so far! I can't wait to start listening to all the talented artists who ahve sent in their music! Back soon! Manpreet | ||||

| Forward Thinking... | 237 dagen geleden | |||
| Hello to all! There is some really exciting news that I want to share with you...this blog is all about FORWARD THINKING...this campaign is definitely moving foward! I have just been contacted by the Department for Transport who wish to meet me. They 'wholeheartedly' support the campaign and have put me in contact with the Teen Road Safety Division in the DfT!! I've been waiting AGES for this meeting and its finally here! Alongside this, I have also been invited to the House of Lords by Peer Lord Ahmed! He wished to work on Road Safety issues and has this has given me the opportunity to work on something that will manifest in the highest authority in Britain! Today I came back from a meeting with RoSPA- The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (www.rospa.com) where I presented my campaign to a network group of practitioners working with young people to prevent injuries. Extended schools networks, West Midlands Fire Service, West Midlands Police, the Scouts Organization, Sustran Walking Network were just some of the people present. My presentation went down a storm and at the end I made some VERY promising contacts. 20 schools here, 12 schools there all with networks wanting to put the campaign material into schools and extended schools after school networks!! Could this be better?! The best feeling of all was the fact that everybody in the room was striving for the same goal as me. To make the lives of young people safer!! On other news, THE TUNE INTO TRAFFIC CAMPAIGN IS LAUNCHING ITS MUSIC COMPETITION!!!!! CHECK OUT THE PROMOTIONAL VIDEO ABOVE AND APPLY!!! Check out the Battlefront homepage for more details!! | ||||

| Tune into Traffic - An important message. | 245 dagen geleden | |||
| Hello all, I'm sure many of you may have picked up a newspaper last week and read about the story of 17 year Gino Shepard. Many people contacted me informing that they had read the story and thought of the campaign. If you didn't hear, Gino Shepard was a young guy from Newcastle at the prime of his youth with his whole life ahead of him. Sadly, while walking across a level crossing, Gino was hit by a train and taken from his loved ones instantly. Gino was wearing his earphones and didn't hear the train coming. Not only are we here at the Tune into Traffic campaign, heartbroken at the news of such a tragic loss, the world lost a talented, spirited and popular young man. You can read the news article here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti... His friends have put a movie tribute to his life on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIkdz... And you can pay your respects on this tribute site here: http://remembrance.chroniclelive.co.... I can't even begin to imagine the pain and anguish his friends and family are going through, at this moment of sadness all I can offer is my sincerest condolences and the promise that I will work tirelessly to promote safety on the roads and raise awareness about corssing the road distracted. Since I started writing to this blog, there weren't many stories about road deaths, the media focuses on the gun and knife crime and anti social behavour a great deal more. In the past year there have been several reported cases and I assume hundreds of unreported cases relating directly to young people loosing their lives on the road. I want to take this moment to ask everybody out there to take a moment to think, to make a conscious effort to pay attention on the roads, to tune into traffic. My campaign material is hitting schools in the next months, a must. Please check out my latest video and see young people's views on the campaign. Your Views Your Voice Part 2. | Networking Galore! | 259 dagen geleden | |||
| Hello all! It has been such a busy time this month (and the month has only just begun), it feels like i've said that in every blog so far...but it's the truth!! The things I love about being a Battlefront campaigner, actually, being a person who just wants to see change...is the ability to campaign through conversations. I've discovered that that there are SOO many people that are listening, having a passion really gives you something to share and everytime I mention Tune into Traffic, I walk away feeling like a light bulb has switched on in that person's head and they are leaving the conversation with an ounce of information that may play a crucial role in their lives....now that is just an amazing feeling. What i'm saying is that campaigning never stops, 24-7, 365 days a year, the people I talk to, their interest in the campaign and their enthusisasm has meant that there's never a day gone by where Tune into Traffic isn't mentioned. I kinda feel like I have my whole pitch summarized and ready to unload on unsuspecting people that haven't met me yet... So what's happened recently? On the 30th, we had a fanstastic Battlefront celebration event to which we were grilled on how to network, network, network! Wow! How this has revolutionized my life. every person is a link to a wider group, every wider group is a link to more people...people are the driving force behind the campaign and the campaign is driving force behind changing actions. I love how there is so much mutual benefit from meeting people. So many people have pledged support to the campaign. Please check out my lastest vids and see how people support the campaign. There are a massive range of young people who have been kind enough to record some very brief comments about the campaign! Please check them out and I will be back soon! | ||||

| Latest Campaign News! | 273 dagen geleden | |||
| Hi all! This month has been extremely busy! The technical term is 'choc-a-bloc'. University, placement interviews, work with the National Youth Agency, training in the third sector and the list goes on. However, as always the campaign trail burns fiercely and the progress is rapid! Last week, while I was in London, I met up with the lovely Caroline and very cool Zander in London (see video above) we made our way to VCCP to talk about my campaign material and the next stages of its designs. Here I met with Fleur and David, the creative genuises from VCCP and we talked through our ammendmends. We decided that we wanted to push forward with a 'gritty' design, something that presented the campaign's message very cleary. A lot of the conversation was based on the comments from my campaign consultation in Birmingham where willing members of the public kindly critiqued my campaign posters, leaflets and stickers. Now for the FANTASTIC news. Yesterday I received digital prints from VCCP in the post. I know now why VCCP decided to send me the campaign material in the post rather than digitally. They wanted me to see the seel the full impact of its brilliance in hardcopy so that it would truly blow my mind!!. The revised campaign material is ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT, it's exactly what we have been searching for and conveys a strong image in a truly professional and stylized way. VCCP have worked their magic again! David's creative flair oozes from these images, the stickers, posters and leaflets look AMAZING! I understand that the only way you can truly share my enthusiasm is by seeing the stuff for yourself! I'm OVER THE MOON! it looks fantastic and I'm really excited to move forward. The next steps are mass printing and possible ad space. VCCP are also now working on the images supplied by internationally renowned Andy Barter so things are moving VERY nicely! I would like to thank Fleur, Cat, Clem, Rich and David for all their fantastic hard work on the campaign! I'm so lucky to be working with such professional, massively creative and extremely pleasant people! I would never be where I am with the support of such committed people! THANK YOU!! I can't wait to keep working with you! I will soon upload the graphics for you all to see! --On a separate note, I will be uploading some videos that I have shot up and down the country from kind participant who have spoke about the campaign! Stay tuned!! | ||||

| Roadside Memorials | 303 dagen geleden | |||
| Hey all! Just a very quick blog to let you all know what's happening with the campaign recently! I have just spoken to world famous photographer Andy Bater (www.andybarter.com) who has shot some roadside memorials in and around London. I have seen some of these photos and they are absolutely amazing. They are very moving and very poigniant. Andy has given me permission to use these on my campaign material so I have sent them over to VCCP to see what they can do with them! I can't wait to see how it looks! As soon as we have put it all together I will post them on here. Secondly, Apache Indian has opened a restraunt near my university and invited me to attend next week! We will be catching up and he's been so busy with the opening! I am also making contact with RoSPA next week to talk about the campaign further. Also, there is a lot of work on from university so I am doing a balancing act! I will be back next week to tell you what came from the links! I will leave you with this video on roadside memorials. As Andy Barter explained in his reasons for shooting similar pictures 'We often drive around not noticing these flowers and then one of the memorials catch your eye and put your journey in perspective, they represent a loss of life and so much devastation'. You can watch the video here: http://battlefront.co.uk/campaign/tu... Please leave your comments. | ||||

| Hello all! As I stated before, now that exams, deadlines and work has gone returned to manageable life standards, you will be hearing from me a lot more! I have some great news thats happening with the campaign which will propell my campaign's message into the national arena for all to hear. Firstly, I take this opportunity to pay my condolensces to a young boy from Birmingham who recently lost his life because he was distracted by loud music playing in his ears while crossing the road. Everytime I hear news like this, I feel like my campaign needs to cross all boundaries and scream from rooftops. I was informed of this tragedy this afternoon by Apache Indian who told me the young boy was his son's schoolmate. Is this a trend? No! because trends take time to form and we are living now. Why is it that most problems are often dealt with with hindsight, when people's lives are already lost and when families lives have been destroyed? Why is that we look back and say 'We should have done something then' or 'Wow, this is actually a serious issue, lets deal with it'. People, we cannot take that stance, we can reverse the future by preventing further tragedies like the ones that are becoming ever more frequent. We have the power to make a change now. On brighter note, the campaign's engine has began roaring again and I have now officially sent over my campaign recommendations for the artwork to VCCP! This is very exciting as soon as this is complete, I will be printing on a large scale! The next step is governmental support, I know I've been banging on about this from the outset but it is becoming a possibility day by day. More news soon! My final note for today is: BE SAFE and BE AWARE...Be the Change you want to see in the world.. | ||||

| Exams are over and the campaign continues stronger than ever! | 327 dagen geleden | |||
| Hello everyone! My exams are FINALLY over and I'm returning back to some normality in life. As I mentioned in my last video blog, things have been really busy with regards to university and now that its over, ofcourse, there's no rest for the wicked! It's time to get moving with the campaign for 2009 and make this year even bigger. What a great start it's been, the campaign's engine is being oiled and ready to start steaming ahead once again. Yesterday, i received an email from VCCP who have now sent me their reviewed versions of my campaign material! They have sent me professional agency designed posters, leaflets and a stickers..It looks great and I'm really excited to start adding my own flavour to the material. I am in conversations with the agency with regards to how we are going to finalize the material fully. I am putting together comments and tweaks that I will be sending over this week to the very helpful and very lovely Fluer from VCCP. Watch this space! I will be uploading the material as soon as we have finished it!! Secondly, on recommendation from my portal of campaign knowledge (my mentor David Bowles) we have tracked down the governement ministers responsible for road safety and I have immediately began drafting letters to arrange a meeting with the Department for Transport and with the Minister with responsibility. With all my material completed, I am hoping that these meetings will enable the establishment of government support which will mean that the campaign can truly be pushed national! As I mentioned before the new year, I have some very exciting news with regards to a creative agency called Hungry Man. Once I have finalized all my campaign materials and government meetings arranged, I will begin work on a very moving internet viral that is set to cast a superstar! I am in contact with the agency to begin the scripting process! So how does that sound? Busy, I know but the campaign is moving forward stronger than ever. I have several video uploads coming your way today and tomorrow so stay tuned folks and keep sending me your messages! | ||||

| The campaign in 2009 | 340 dagen geleden | |||
| Hello everyone! First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everybody is in good health and had a great holiday! The new year means back to work! The past few weeks have been really busy as I have modular exams at university which means a lot of work and revision. I just wanted to let you all know that I am still here, even though I have been a bit dormant since December. I have had a conversation with the Battlefront team and the wheels of the campaign have been set in motion for 2009. There is a lot of work to do this year and i'm counting on all your support to make this campaign a success. Just to recap, I am finalizing my campaign materials with VCCP, this will mean I will have lots of posters, stickers and leaflets that will be distributed around the country. I am working on an advertising viral with HungryMan for the campaign which will be featured on all the popular video sharing sites, I will publicizing the dates for when this will start happening very soon. I have also written several articles that are being published later this month. One of which will be featured in the national mag Politick! aimed at 18-35 year old interested in current affairs. I am also in conversation with Apache Indian about potential for collaboration in a music song dedicated to campaign! My final exams are next week, and I'm planning to hit the portals of the media so look out for the campaign and also keep coming back here as I am organizing ways in which the general public can take part in the campaign. This will happen in a range of exciting ways including the possibility of joining me in my publicity attempts. Thats it for now. Manpreet | ||||
