What do Kylie, Ringo Starr, Matchbox 20, Bare Naked Ladies and Saccade have in common? Read on.

Ok for anyone who hasnt heard yet Saccade will feature on the first ever Irish USB album. The opportunity came about from www.downloadmusic.ie when we released our first single "Wastin my time" with them last January. The single did very well on their charts making it to number 6 out of a good 250 bands at the time so Johnny and the lads at Download decided to release a compilation USB album with material from their charts. As there are now over 800 artists on the chart now the album had to be shortlisted to 50 entries and a panel of "Industry heads" were brought in to narrow it down to the last 15.

All details can be found at: http://www.downloadmusic.ie/wordpres...

The following people were picked to help choose the 15 tracks which will appear on the USB Compilation Album.

Adam Maguire - Journalist, Music Lover - Adam’s Blog
Aidan Curren - Cluas.com
Alison Curtis - Today FM- The Last Splash
Aoife Lanigan - Good Seed PR
Brendan Hickey - On The Verge
Brian Greene - Talking Voices Ireland
Dave Reid - BME Music
Edison Waters - Vibe Music Management
Elton Mullally - Channel 6
Elvera Butler - Reekus Records
Francie Conway - Musician, Songwriter, The Rockschool, Ballyfermot
Jennie McCullough - Brused Fruit Promotions
Julie Feeney - Irish composer, singer/songwriter
Ken McGuire - Kilkenny Music
Naomi Mc Ardle - HotPress- Naomi’s Blog
Noel Taylor - Artist Management
Peter Vamos - Phantom
Ray Foley - Today FM - Ray’s Blog
Rick O’Shea - 2FM- Rick’s Blog
Roddy Cleere - WLRFM
Ron Healy - Irish Unsigned
Tom Kerwick - Frequency Ireland
Trev Halpin - MusicReview.com
Una Mullally - Journalist - Una Rocks Blog

Kylie, Ringo Starr, Matchbox 20 and Bare Naked Ladies are also releasing USB albums this year as sales are counted towards chart positions.

Please support this great idea and go buy one when they are out.

Cheers,

The Lads.

The year so far.......

Just some news on the Saccade front. We have completed our cross country support marathon which was a great experience and bundles of fun. We played with some of Irelands finest including The Flaws, Ham Sandwich and The Coronas in some really cool venues around the country. We also had our little TV stint on Deis-Roc where we made it to the semi-finals. Thanks again everyone who voted. We are really happy with the exposure it got us. We were also very chuffed to be part of the Eircom unsigned competition. We made it to the last 5 out 200 bands and solo acts and did a tasty little gig in 4 Dame Lane to launch the new website. The icing on the cake though and the most rewarding thing to date for us is winning the 2,000 euro Bursary prize provided by the BCFE. Thanks to Chris and his gang for this opportunity. We were chosen (from a group of four other great bands) by Stephen Power from Sony BMG and Ann Marie Walsh who works as a music consultant. Read more at http://www.ballyer.net/2008/03/sacca...

So all in all it hasn’t been a bad year thus far. Bring on the rest.

The return to Dublin....... Whelans, 14th April with Leopold and Open Door Policy

We are delighted to announce our first headline gig in Dublin in a while. The good folk at Ballyfermot College have asked us to come along to Whelans and headline a night for their annual project. Best course ever! And we were more than happy to say yes yes yes. We love playing Whelans. Other bands on the night include our good auld chums Leopold and Open Door Policy. The gig is on the 14th of this month (April) and its 7euro in which isn’t half bad for Whelans. The only thing is its on a Monday night and we all know how very "Un-Irish-like" it is to go out and not get drunk. So if you can find it in your warm little hearts do please come along (have a coke or 7up if your in work the next day) and support us. Its gonna be a great night!

The album.......

The album is so close to being finished. Only some very minor tweaks are needed on one or two or the tracks. We had some very nice ladies come in last week and put some violins and cellos on "Hang On" and "Cirrus" which sound out of this world. Ya can’t beat organic strings no matter what any synth head says right! We are very happy with the project so far. Our Producer Rob has really done a bang up job. I think we are looking at a summer internet release so get those burners fired up all you downloaders. First single should be released at the end of the month or early May. Stay tuned to www.myspace.com/saccade for more news on this.

Merchandise.....

From now on at all our headline gigs and maybe some supports we will be selling merchandise or as they call it in the business "Merch". Abbrev. are just a sign of laziness if ya ask me!...... We’d love to branch out and have our own line of toiletries or maybe some "Saccade home pregnancy tests" but its t-shirts and badges for the moment folks.

Oh Canada......

So our beloved manager Miriam has crossed the pond back to Canada for a while and left us with sickchris (that guys mad I tell ya). A big thank you to Mirzer for all the hard work over the last few months. We really appreciate it and are forever grateful. Whenever we see a bottle of Kopparberg pear cider we will always have one for you. All the best me auld china and hope to see ya sooner rather than later.

Smell yis later.......

Well that’s it for the time being lads and lassies. Keep safe and hope to see yis all in Whelans on the 14th. Remember to check in at myspace and bebo for regular updates and gig listings.

Bye,

Steve, Jay, Phil and Ed.

Tuesday 17th June 2008

So the album eventually came back from its Mastering holiday in London. Sounds great! We're all very happy to hear it finished after all the hard work over the last 10 months. Chris our manager said it makes him moist whatever the hell that means! So i suppose the next step is choosing the running order and start thinking about artwork.

Any ideas?

Jay.

Tuesday 13th May 2008

Its done........................ Well recording is finito. We all got together last week in the studio and put the seal of approval on the recording and off it went then to London to be Mastered. For those of you who dont know what mastering is goto: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastering
We are all very exciret and deliret to be progreesing on to next stage of the assemby line for the album. The next step (after the mastering) is budget and raising the spondulics to fund the rest of the process. Believe me theres a fuckin lot involved in releasing an album. Its not as easy as record, duplicate, shelf and cash in.

More soon. Im goin to have me cheerios!

Jay.

Friday 4th April 2008

Real strings on Cirrus and Hang On. Sounds sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Very nearly close to completition. I think we have the title sorted n'all thanks to a manual handling poster we robbed of a wall in a certain college.

Jay.

Wednesday 20th February 2008

Wow long time no update!!! Got mixs of 7 tracks last week and they sound fecking sweet. All is goin to plan and its not long now till its all done and dusted baked and crusted. I fink we're gonna release a single first off to build up some hype and then the album will follow.

All for now,

Jay.

Tuesday 27th November 2007

Well what a busy fuckin weekend. 3 gigs, Studio and Boozin. Its an awful tiring job this rock'n'roll business but someones gotta do it. Flyin through the album. Nearly finished the vocals. Next step after that is the little bits the producer is gonna add using midi synth and beats. After that we are more than likely getting a string quartet to play live strings on the album. TASTY! Im gonna have a buzz of the tunes aswell after the strings with some Reason and Fruity Loops ideas. We are starting to think of names and designes for the album now. Any ideas?

Smell ya later,

Jay.

Tuesday 13th November 2007

Well another weekend well spend in le studio. Got all me guitars done and dusted (i think!). On Saturday Ed made use of his new jeep by bringing all his keyboards in and spending a day "tickling the ivorys" as they say. By lunch time sunday i had all me guitars done so Steve made a start on the vocals (i legged it down to The Bleeding Horse to meet Philzer for a pint and some scoff- bastards wernt showing the utd game). By about 6 bells Stevo had 7 vocals done. He was on the mutha fuckin ball! We decided to call it a day. Back in next Saturday for more fun. Hangovers all round after the bin gig on friday im guessing!

Over'n'out

Jay.

Sunday 4th Nov 2007

Whats the story all you Saccadians.
Just back from the studio this evening after watching Steve and Phil putting in some serious hours of blissful guitars, really people you do not know whats in store when you hear this album.............I think its safe to say it sounds fucking super and thats even without a snitch done to it. Im in the studio next week getting the finishing touches on the keys so Im looking forward to that and Im sure Phil will be asking me to put more FEEL INTO IT, PLAY FROM THE HEART ..........its all good my fellow saccadian.....YOUR A LOVELY LAD. Steve has a bit of footage of the drum takes being done which in fact looks like me having an Elvis moment on the jaxx so be sure to check it out.

Peace out

Ed

Well thanks Phil for that lovely nickname (hothouse fowler) it kinda suits as the temperature of my scundies was pretty high after a grueling 8 hour session in the studio on Sunday. Got down most of my licks n tricks using my Leslie-Pauline. Love her to death but shes a fat heavy bitch! Done all me rhythm tracks using the fender deluxe and used a line 6 kidney pod to do all the lead. We're back in this Sunday. I think Steve has to finish some of his guitars and also learn how to make a decent cup of coffee! Took some footage so might upload it if i get around to it this weekend. Smell yis later.

All the best.

Jay

Got the guide vocals done. Under the influenze a little bit, but it's just to give us an idea about how the songs are taking shape. We had a bit of a laugh at some of the sounds (singing?) that were eminating from Steve. That's the first half of the recording process over. I'll keep you all posted about the next stage as it unfolds. Until then...

Phil

Well, the guitars are done. All we need now is the magic touches of the hothouse Fowler and we're set. Ed went into the studio last night and got a few piano pieces down. Mainly on 'Hang On', which sounds fucking deadly. Well, at least to my completely impartial ear. So far, we're having a great time recording the album. All the pre-production ideas seem to be working out for us. We're pretty confident in the song selection, and this record should turn out to be a fucking kick-ass debut. Today we're in to do some vocals, so we can have some shape to the whole album before we move on the next stage. Of course, we'll keep you posted about any happenings. Sorry we haven't any bust-ups or overdoses to report to you guys. It's all going too smoothly at the moment. Nevermind though, there's always todays vocals when someone is sure to blow a fuse...ha ha!

Later,

Phil

Yeah, so Stevie got some guitar tracks down on Tuesday. He should get the rest of them done today, baring any gremlins or sticky bits get in the way! It's all sounding sweet so far. We should have a bit of a laugh on Thursday doing the keys and other little atmospherical pieces. We just love giving Ed a load of hassle about getting the right lines in there. Up a bit, down a bit, try this but with feeling...ha ha ha. We'll have 'em got between tears of joy and laughs of despair. Keep you posted on any other news...

Bye for now,

Phil

Monday, October 15, 2007 at 2:17 PM

So, our debut album is finally underway. We went into the studio on Saturday and Ed got the drums down for four songs, before I put down some bass lines. Sunday was the same drill and it all seems to be sounding pretty sweet so far. The album is gonna have ten songs in all. We think some of them are fucking cracking. Can't wait 'til is completed. Steve's in there today, cranking out some rythm guitars...we'll keep yis all posted as to how we're getting on.

Later,

Phil
