Business as usual...81 Tage her

Hello faithful listeners/ viewers/ readers!

It's been a while since we last filled you in on everything that's happening in our hectic little world. When we last chatted, we were thick in the middle of all the promo surrounding our album launch and building up to a little tour with our good friends the Panama Kings http://www.myspace.com/panamakings . We have lots to tell you about... We did interviews with George Jones (U105FM), Olga Kinsmann (Cool FM) and Cathal Funge (Phantom FM) to name a few.

Gigwise, we played Glasgowbury Festival (25th July) and graced the same stage as The Super Furry Animals and Ocean Colour Scene when we played the Mitchelstown Festival in Cork on 1st August. You can see some of the photos in our album on our facebook page.

Well we survived all that (just about) - everything went swimmingly! There was singing, dancing, midnight football, belly aches and good times, drinking and semi naked 2am wrestling... side effects included severe memory loss and possible self induced early onset of dimensia.

Since then we've been all systems go with our album 'I've been here for ages'. The album is available to purchase from the Pocket Promise iTunes store http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M... and all major download sites now and physical copies are available from our website http://www.pocketpromise.com

Hopefully at this stage you've heard a little bit about it or heard some of the songs on the radio. If not, you can listen to some tracks on the player on our facebook band profile http://www.facebook.com/pocketpromis... or on on our myspace page http://www.myspace.com/pocketpromise

In other news - We're doing an in-store gig at the legendary Tower Records, Wicklow Street, Dublin, where we'll have copies of the new album available – Thursday 17th September at 5pm. On the same day will be filming a new song for our good friends at Balcony TV who have been kind enough to have us back. Also look out for our appearance on TG4's POP 4 show which we’ll be posting up soon. The session was aired last week.

We’ve also just been informed that we’ll be playing this year’s Hard Working Class Heroes (Dublin) Visit Breaking Tunes page for more info http://www.breakingtunes.com/profile/903 And guess what... We've only gone and joined Twitter. The ultimate in online disturbance. We’ll now be able to tell you when and where we use the toilet and how much we shouldn’t have had that extra whiskey. Follow us here: www.twitter.com/pocketpromise

We’ve also posted up our current video for ‘talkovertalking’ The video was recorded by the ever talented and truly brilliant Will McConnell of Bandwidth Films. It was recorded in sunny Tyrone and the video will hopefully envoke feelings of what summer should really be about… sun!

http://www.bandwidthfilms.com/Talkov...

GIG NEWS:

We’re going to be bringing in the new academic year with a headline slot at RADAR in Queens University Students’ Union on Thursday 24th alongside Furlo and Naktomi Towers. This will be amazing! It’s free in and the drinks are as cheap as a really cheap item (I would’ve said chips, but chips just aren’t that cheap anymore. That’s the recession for you.)

We’re also playing with our excellent friends and a truly wonderful band Seven Summits on their album launch on 29th Sept at the Black Box Café, Belfast alongside the very brilliant John Shelley and the creatures and our old chums The Good Fight. Faffing hell… it’s a busy time of year.

NEXT WEEK we will be proud to announce the arrival of our new website!

So here goes. We've been busy boys here and there sporadically trying to gather ourselves for the oncoming deeds and deadlines.

First things first - we're playing at the very cool Twostep Club in the Limelight, Belfast tonight with the very wonderul Skruff and Eskimos Fall. It would be great to see you down. We'll have the final few copies of our ep and a few of our last single with us, along with the obligatory badges and t-shirts.... we're selling everything at recession prices so get your copies whilst we're still in business!

Next up - We've got our very new and exciting single coming out on 12th June. It will be a double A-Side consisting of the fast and brashy 'talkovertalking' and the loud and powerful 'If not, the tide will change'. So exciting times, non? Well as always, we're flying by the absolute seat of our pants... Everything will be in place this weekend - artwork, posters, promo, blogs and anything else we can think of. We're going to throw a big get-together to celebrate the launch of the single - Auntie Annie's, Belfast on Friday 12th June. We're happy to say that we will be joined by the very wonderful Clown Parlour and again by our good friends the Blackout DJs. We'll hopefully see you there!

There'll be a good informative blog with a bit more info, some lovely new photos, news on our artwork and all our upcoming plans in the next few days...

But until then.

all our glitzy hearts207 Tage her

So, after having immense fun making the video for "I burnt the roller disco"

with the super-talented Will McConnell of Bandwidth films, we decided we needed to do more of that kind of thing.

And so... one windy and wet Sunday afternoon not too long ago, Will dropped into our house in Belfast to film a little session by the fire. We were lucky to be joined by three excellent musicians - Joanne Holland , Laura Henderson and Alana Henderson who played violin, harp and cello respectively.

Go to www.bandwidthfilms.com to see the results - including a toy-piano version of Something Unreal (from our Waving at Strangers e.p.), a whispery-quiet version of the usually screamingly loud 'If Not the Tide Will Change' (from the forthcoming Pocket Promise album)and some covers of songs we like.. Thanks to Will for this - he's a legend - and to the three real-life musicians who played with us. We hope that they will be joining us again soon.

In other news, we had some lovely things said about us in this review of 'I burnt the roller disco" Check it out here - http://mymusos.com/pocket-promise-i-...
Apparently we are glitzy rabble-rousers... Class.

And here are a few upcoming dates - come see us play our glitzy hearts out;
Thursday 14th May - The Empire, Belfast with Boathouse and Seven Summits
Thursday 21 May - TwoStep @the Limelight with Skruff and Eskimoes Fall
Saturday 20th June - Purty Lodge, Dublin with The Ambience Affair and The Minutes

We will be announcing details for our next single this week also - It's gonna be very soon and it's gonna be interesting..

with love,

Good people of our internet catchment...

We thought it rude of us not to fill you in on everything we've been doing since we last chatted. News a plenty we have! Firsly our most important news is that 'I burnt the roller disco' is now available via iTunes and all the other usual major download outlets now! - amazonmp3, napster, rhapsody, etc... Do it! You can still have sneaky listen and watch the video on our myspace page or via our website - http://www.pocketpromise.com

You may have read in the news that a wonderful little lady has got the attention of millions of people on X-Factor with her beautiful rendition of some Lloyd Webber mallarky... even catching the eye of one Demi Moore. Well, this was no surprise to us as Demi has actually been twittering us since before twitter even existed having bumped into Dominic in Queen's PEC - a chance encounter which had Demi mistaking Dominic for her current beau Ashton Cutcher. She's even taken the time to leave us a little message on Youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB60U... Stick that in your pipe Susan...

In other news - on Tueday night we were live in the Feile FM studio in Belfast talking our usual nonsense, playing a few acoustic tracks (including a special cover song) and generally having a laugh talking about, amongst other things, Ciaran's financial advice, Dominic's cooking tips and Joe's views of the world...! On Wednesday night we had 'i burnt the roller disco' played on Huw Stephen's Radio One show and we aslo featured performing a live session on Rory McConnell's BBC Radio One Introducing show NI. We played a few classic Pocket Promise tracks as well as a brand spanking new little gem we like to call 'Juno'. You can listen again online here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rorymcco...

Speaking of brand spanking new gems... this month we've been mostly writing 3 new songs in our beloved band room. Locked away from the real world with pen and paper and numerous noise making objects, we've penned three very cool/ lovely new compositions which involve pianos, keyboards, melodicas, fancy drum pads and glockenspiels... we really can't wait to show you!

On top of all of this, we're doing the rounds at a few venues in the area so do drop down and see us:

25th April - ANIMAL DISCO @ The Spring and Airbrake
14th May - Gifted @ The Empire
20th June - The Purty Lodge, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

We've also still got a FREE TRACK available from http://www.musicglue.com/pocketpromise . Like as in a whole free track - for free. And it's free as well. Like a free thing from us to you... for free. You know you want to...

We'll have news soon of our special live session done right from our living room for Bandwidth films!

Until then, big love.

Hey there everyone, we trust you are well!

Things in camp promise are running along smoothly and we've some great bits of news to fill you in on. Firstly we want to say a big thanks to everyone who came down to see us launch our single on Friday 3rd April @ Auntie Annie's, Belfast - Truly thankful for your support. Big thanks to the Blackout crew and Elspeth, legends. Good cod, it was one of those nights that lasted the weekend... parts of me will never be the same again. I had grown so fond of some of those brain cells too. I woke up wishing I had a name badge to identify my own body... Well we spring cleaned the house and gathered up some other bodies from behind the couch and got ourselves back on track...

We've had some great feedback for I Burnt the Roller Disco (our debut single) including a lovely mention in the current issue of the North's finest music magazine; Alternative Ulster - get your copy now! - as well as appearances in last week's Daily Mirror and Irish News. On top of this, lifelong supporter Gerry Anderson is giving it an old spin as well as the very wonderful Donna Legge on BBC Radio Foyle - AND in the South of Ireland Dan Hegarty, 2FM and Cathal Funge at Dublin's Phantom FM.

We've also popped up on a few review sites where people have said lovely things:

http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk/co...

And down at the bottom of this page: http://www.losingtoday.com/tales.php...

You may or may not be aware that Dominic and Cormac popped in to co-present BBC Radio Ulster's Across the Line show on Monday 6th April with the very entertaining Rigsy at the helm and under the watchful eye of our good friend Paul McClean. Dominic talked animals and shaved legs, Cormac talked Dominic out of talking too much about animals and shaved legs within the one conversation... If you missed the show, you can listen again right here -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland...

On Monday we also had the very special pleasure of recording a live session in BBC Blackstaff House for Rory McConnell's Radio One Introducing show. You can expect the fruits of the session to be aired within the coming weeks on Rory's show. Photos of the session for myspace and facebook coming shortly.

www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rorymcconnell

We've also got a number of other bits and pieces in the pipeline too including an appearance on Feile FM here in Belfast and a live video session with Bandwidth Films which we'll be throwing up into the abyss that is the internet, very shortly! We'll also have the official itunes, napster, amazonmp3 and rhapsody release of 'i burnt the roller disco' and news of our next single and forthcoming album! Sweet Jebus Crisps it's all go I tell ye'!

Until next time...

PS - Single and video still downloadable and viewable @ http://www.pocketpromise.com
If you're not going to buy it please feel free to request it via text or email from any of the DJs we've mentioned above! 2 minutes work would make our day and it really helps us out, thanks a bunch of grapes.

Well, well, well..

We have been busy bees this week us Pocket Promisers. You may or may not know that we are releasing our debut single today (download available at midday)- I Burnt the Roller Disco - via downloadmusic.ie and textatrack.co.uk - all details are here: www.pocketpromise.com

We are literally bursting at the seems with anticipation. In preparation, we've been getting about a bit and it would seem we have ourselves well and truly stretched with appearances on everything from university magazines to national radio...

This week Joe had the privilege of updating his old college chums on what he's been up to for the last few years -

http://www.northumbria.ac.uk/browse/...

Cormac and Dominic also made a quick stop in our home town Dungannon to fill in the Radio One on what it was like to grow up there and the music scene in the town. You can listen back to the show, which aired on Wednesday night, at the link below (feature starts at about one hour 13 minutes in). For those of you who want to listen to the whole show (which of course we recommend!) 'I burnt the roller disco' was also featured later on as a favourite local track of the week from our good friends The Panama Kings - check it all out here (just press play on the player to listen):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rorymcco...

We are also very happy to report that on Monday two of us will be dropping into BBC Radio Ulster's Across the Line to co-host the show. So basically you get to hear us talking about the music that makes us tick, all the local bands we love at the minute, plus a lot of other shite - whilst trying to avoid expletives live on air. Oh shit. We'll also be giving the first airing to a few exclusive tracks from our forthcoming album! We are big fans of ATL of course having been made chuffed to bits with this little review...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland...

...well obviously we loved them before the review too of course!

"What other news?", I hear you say... Well our bag is as stuffed as a hamster sandwich; we got a big mention this week with our new video, as a featured artist on MUZU.TV - we also made their blog... sweetski! Check the whole thing out here -

http://blog.muzu.tv/

We still have a free track available via the link on at www.myspace.com/pocketpromise DO IT! It's free for Christ sake - and you know what else... currently more people from Japan and America and have downloaded it than our Northern and Southern Irish friends - now I don't want to start a world war, but you know that brings out your competitive streak...!

Right, over stayed the welcome there a bit, but if you're bored in work you may well enjoy aimlessly reading through this whilst your life is sucked out through your eyes and into Bill Gate's wallet. That's about it for the minute, but we've plenty more news soon including a live video session for Bandwidth and a live studio session for Rory McConnell BBC Radio One NI. You'd nearly think the BBC liked us or something...

Love pp
