| MUSIC NEWS SCOTLAND REVIEW - WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR EP | 512 giorni fa | |||
| Little Green Machine continue to cultivate a vibrant originality throughout this 4 track EP. Once again their catchy trademark style of rock is instantly likeable and the possibility of bigger things, on the evidence of this record alone, looks glaringly certain. Last year they procreated a stunning debut which demonstrated their proficiency in music. And now they’ve returned with a manifestation of musical textures and structuring. The perfect synthesis to its progenitor. Little Green Machine are a rather striking panorama of inventiveness. Consider them likely champions soon! Alan Baillie - Music News Scotland | ||||

| Daily Record - EP Review | 814 giorni fa | |||
| NO Willy Wonka's Oompa-Loompas haven't formed a band in Scotland, instead the Little Green Machine are a trio from Edinburgh. A genre-busting eight track EP I was going to put them in the usual alternative rock sludge-fest tray that so many unsigned bands think will make them chart potential but actually make them sound like so many others. And then I came to Excuse Me, Sir with its backwards tapes, dreamy guitar and distorted vocals singing: 'walking through the desert 'neath the marigold sun' and I was hooked. While on their fast tunes like EP opener Bus Shelter Blues singer and bassist Jack Sandison rolls his vowels like Johnny Lydon, spitting them out with the same snarling fury, it's actually when he just sings in the down-tempo songs that Little Green Machine live up to the hype of some who claim they are Scotland's next big band. While tunes like Not Like You Need have a Fratellis-like comical flavour for me the out-and-out track is the EP's closing song Cocaine Daisy Chain. Slow Like the Rolling Stones' As Tears Go By it's stunningly powerful. And it's possibly the best track released by a Scots band signed or unsigned this year. The band play Bad Seed@ The Bongo Club, Edinburgh on September 26, Capitol Rocks @ Capitol, Glasgow on September 27. Rick Fulton | ||||

| Is This Music? - EP Review | 966 giorni fa | |||
| Can an eight-track CD really be called an EP? This debut offering from Edinburgh three-piece Little Green Machine sounds more like a mini-album than a glorified single, excelling in both quantity and quality, and they might have sold themselves short with the EP tag. It may not be perfect – there are still a few too many wanky rock solos, and there's an occasional need for a delicate touch among the rabble-rousing – but this is as solid a debut as anyone could have hoped for. 'Take The Money & Run' hints at the Arctic Monkeys' ever-popular indie-funk, before launching into Nirvana territory with a surge of well-judged distortion. 'Excuse Me, Sir' keeps proceedings a little more low-key, owing its debts to The Kinks rather than the band's more obvious grunge heroes – at least until the chorus crashes in over the top. Then 'Déjà Vu' steers them unadvisedly into pure rock territory, with 'Cocaine Daisy Chain' thankfully restoring the balance as it closes proceedings. There's little doubt that the Green Machine still have some way to go before they can start plotting world domination, but for three university students barely out of their teens they show a remarkable amount of control, as well as some genuine songwriting talent. At this rate they'll be supporting the Foo Fighters in 2008. Dan Coxon | ||||

| Jim Gellatly - EP Review | 966 giorni fa | |||
| All in their early 20s, this Edinburgh-based 3-piece may be new on the scene, but their debut EP hints at a band who've spent ages mastering their craft. The fact is that they only came together in February! Hints of blues, grunge and indie, with some tremendous rasping vocals... the songs are just screaming out to be heard by a wider audience. If so, they could become one of the biggest bands in Scotland. If you're digging the new breed like The Kooks and Mumm-Ra, Little Green Machine could well be your new favourite band.
