| Ready, Steady, Gig ! | 432 days ago | |||
| Ah hello hello, lovely to see you all again. You're looking well !* *Obviously I have no way of knowing but I BET you ARE looking well There's a few things happening in Colemanland at the moment that I'd like to give you all the old heads up on. Seeing as I've been very lax of late with the web stuff (I promise we've been busy on new songs and recordings and noodlings of a creative nature) it seemed time that I made a least an effort at turning over a new leaf. So here we go ! GIGS: 20 Sep 2008 20:00 The Tivoli Theatre (Solo) Dublin Sophie's Choice Charity Gig - more on that below 23 Sep 2008 21:00 The Crane Lane Theatre (Solo) Cork Double header with Colm Lynch. I know he's a Dub but don't hold that against him in the People's Republic ! 24 Sep 2008 21:00 The Articulate Sessions (Solo) Limerick In Bakers Bar/Venue in Limerick 25 Sep 2008 17:00 Freedom (Amnesty) Cafe (Solo) Galway In the Amnesty Cafe, Galway on Middle Street 3 Oct 2008 21:00 The Brewery (Solo) Monaghan Supporting David Kitt 14 Oct 2008 21:00 Ruby Sessions (Solo) Dublin NEW SONGS: At this stage there's quite a few newer songs in the set though of course I will still be playing some old favourites as well ! So do try and make a gig if it's convenient to your home place. We're still writing and arranging and planning the recordings for album number 2 and hopefully these will take shape sometime in the not too distant future. PASSIONFRUIT GIG MP3s AND VIDEOS: In the meantime, for those of you who love your live gigs, we are soon going to have some mp3s for you. Back in July of this year I played a gig in a lovely little theatre in Athlone called the Passionfruit. Begging, borrowing, stealing we managed to put together enough recording equipment and cameras to document the gig almost in it's entirety. We're currently finishing off editing some little videos for Youtube, so once there done I'll make you aware of their existence. SOPHIE'S CHOICE CHARITY About the Sophie's Choice Gig, we think it's a great cause people so please lend us your support for that one if you're in Dublin Saturday night: Next Saturday 20th September, The Tivoli Theatre will host Sophie’s Choice 08’ A four year old little girl called Sophie wants to return the favor to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin; for everything they have done for her and so many other children! Performing on the night: Red Kid Penfold DM The Hot Sprockets Lisa Mc Laughlin Bill Coleman Phil Kerrigan Headphone Disco: Also featured at Oxegen & Electric Picinc Dj's are: Channel 1: Paddy Sheridan (House Music/Dirty Disco) Channel 2: Club NME (India/Rock) Doors 7:30pm till late!! Tickets for the event are just €16 and are available from the Box Office at the Tivoli Theatre, on Francis Street or from the Tivoli website. To read the full story behind the reasons for Sophie's Choice, please click through to the Sophie's Choice Myspace Page www.myspace.com/sophieschoiceevents. That's all for now folks. Mind yourselves ! | ||||

We hope everybody has been keeping well of late? Enjoying whatever fab stuff has been happening for you and dealing with the bad stuff? It’s been a busy time over the last few months for everyone involved in the Bill Coleman "Experience" , and while we don’t quite have the fruit of our labours just yet we hope to be able to start sharing some of them with you quite soon.In fact, if you’re able to make it to a gig, you’re going to hear some brand new songs and see the latest addition to the visual experience as well Speaking of which: 5 Apr 2008 21:00 Dolans (Upstairs) (Solo) Limerick, Limerick supporting Kiernan McMullan 6 Apr 2008 20:00 Purty Sessions (Solo), Dun Laoghaire Dublin, Dublin 10 Apr 2008 21:00 Hefty Horse (Solo) + Gavin Glass + Real Live Tigers + Dustin and the Furniture Dublin, Dublin 13 Apr 2008 21:00 Delaneys (Solo) Portlaoise, Laois supporting GARY DUNNE 15 Apr 2008 21:00 GARY DUNNE Album Release Party (Solo) + Ise + El Scamperino Dublin, Dublin 28 Apr 2008 20:00 Whelans (Solo) - supporting Grant Lee Phillips Dublin, Dublin 16 May 2008 21:00 The Brewery (Solo) + Saving J + Superjimenez Monaghan, Monaghan As you can see from the above I’m doing a few shows supporting Gary Dunne. Gary is a very good friend of mine going back for a long time and I’m delighted to say he’s got a new album coming out imminently. I’ve only heard a couple of songs but what I’ve heard sounds fantastic. I can’t wait to hear the full piece and I heartily recommend you come out and catch a gig of his in the near future. I guarantee you won’t regret it. You can hear samples of the new album from the myspace below. www.myspace.com/garydunne www.garydunne.com One of the fun things they’re doing over at GDHQ is making a video from submissions made by fans - the blurb follows. Break a leg! It’s a bit of fun doing this! Want to be in a Music Video?! YouTube.com/makeamusicvideo Independent record label Honest Records have just launched an innovative new video project for the release of ’Simple Truth’, the new single from Irish artist Gary Dunne. The idea is this. You video yourself holding up any written message that you want (think Bob Dylan, Subterranean Homesick Blues), email it to info@garydunne.com and it’s then uploaded to www.youtube.com/makeamusicvideo. Try to be creative with your messages and locations. Videos are already flowing in from Tokyo, Stockholm, London and Sydney! You don’t need any professional equipment. Grab your mobile or video camera, write your message get filming and get it online! The final cut will be edited in London at the end of March. The track, Simple Truth is the title track from Gary’s new album, out Apr 11. You can hear exclusive album previews on myspace.com/garydunne. Gary has always worked closely with fans; he has just finished playing living room shows across the UK and Ireland and his label is partly funded by a loyal fanbase. Since the independent release of his debut album Twenty Twenty Fiction in 2005, Gary has performed alongside artists like Damien Rice and Duke Special and played sold out headline shows in New York, Paris and London. Video Project: YouTube.com/makeamusicvideo Simple Truth is released on Apr 11th 2008 Thanks folks - mind yourselves!!! | ||||

| Vicar Street - BBC Blas Ceoil - Crosswords... | 783 days ago | |||
| Howdy Folks... It's been a little while but we've had a busy summer, writing & recording, enjoying the weather (it's been terrible, we're being sarcastic), combining opening the main stage at the World Fleadh this year (last minute substitution) and also performing in a total downpour of rain later on that day. There's photographic evidence of said moisture somewhere. We'll dig it out at some point... There's a busy October upcoming as well - first off, we're delighted, excited and exceedingly stoked and generally very pleased all round to be supporting the mighty Aslan in Vicar Street - October 12th for all you fact fans. It's for the launch of their new album "For Some Strange Reason". We've been playing all over the country with the lads over the summer and they've been totally fab. Also, the BBC have asked us to do a gig for them in Newry - this entails sharing a stage with The Four of Us, Nuala Kennedy and Luan Parle which should be fairly sprightly. Bill will be doing a half hour on the night and two songs will be taken from the whole to be broadcast on the telly, radio and the BBC website at some point. Further details when we know more. We believe tickets are available for this show, should you wish to see it live and in the flesh - it's on in the Bank Bar in Newry. 4 Oct 2007 21:00 Lenister Arms, Maynooth (Solo) 9 Oct 2007 21:00 Ruby Sessions (Solo) 11 Oct 2007 21:00 The Bank Bar (Solo) BBC Blas Ceoil with The Four of Us, Nuala Kennedy & Luane Parle 12 Oct 2007 21:00 Vicar Street (Solo) supporting Aslan 19 Oct 2007 21:00 Leithean (w. Band) Portlaoise, Laois 26 Oct 2007 21:00 Phil Grimes (w. Band) Waterford For those of you who missed it, the rather nicely penned interview that ran in the Sunday Independent back at the end of August is now readable from the website here: http://bcoleman.songwriter.ie/sindo_... And we've gone past the 10,000 visitors mark on the myspace page. Is this supposed to be a landmark of some sort or are we supposed to ignore it until we add another few zeros on it? We're not sure, but we just might use it as an excuse to throw a party at some stage. Watch this space ;-) Also, Bill did a little slot for the "Saturday Night With Miriam" show back in July - we've finally got around to converting the dvd to something utube will take. We think. It should be up on the Myspace/Bebo in the next day or so - hopefully... if we've formatted the file properly that is... Finally, strictly for laughs, because we did when we were texted about it while at some gig or other. In fact, we rather snorted with laughter come to think of it. We wonder how many people got the answer to 45 across. Fairly obscure in fairness :-) http://bcoleman.songwriter.ie/Images... Please note that this is a celebrity crossword. How swisch is that?!? Fair play the Daily Star. Thanks muchly for your time ;-) | ||||

| Hey Folks... We're about to dive into a load of dates, as you can see from eh... the post just below this one! First up is a batch of dates for the Rock the Vote campaign. All free those, with the full band so should be good. Also, doing a batch of dates with them Aslan lads. Legends the lot of them Yes, you read that last one in May correctly - we have a final cut of the "Offer" video that debuted in its unfinished form last December in the Sugar Club. So we said we'd go back there to give the whole thing an airing. Woo hoo! Looks like we'll have sumptuous visuals from "The Boy", the lad that gave you the bee-yoo-tee-full Bill Coleman album artwork. We are looking forward to it... The video is being spun by Channel 6 at the moment, so if you happen to be up and about at whatever ungodly hours they have night-shift on, drop them a text and get them to play the bleedin' yoke. The dancing is a bit naff, but the utensils are lovely!!! Various other "festival" shenanigans up in the air and yet-to-be-finalised - but we're hopping around the place on one foot most days and rubbing our hands with glee while saying that things-are-looking-good-but-you-shouldn't-count-your-chickens just yet anyways! Just looks like the summer will be busy - which is ALWAYS a good thing When we know for definite we'll let you know Hope you're all keeping well folks. Keep it handy and between the white lines... | ||||

| Happy New Year people! We have dates... The next single is "Say It Like You Mean It". It's going to be released as a download only on February 9th and you'll be able to get it from iTunes and all sorts of other websites and locations. (We're moving up in the world see...). The release date for the album has been set for February 23rd - not only will you be able to get it from iTunes but you'll also be able to but it in the shops! Well, in Ireland anyways... We're working on the rest of the world, we'll let you know when we get there. So the artwork is done - the covers of both the album and the promo cd of the single that's currently winging its way around the country are on display on the website home page - www.bcoleman.com - and we're currently waiting for the finished product to get back from the plant, and we're very much looking forward to it so we are... Right now we're busy sorting out the tour and recovering from the festive season. More dates for you soon. Until then.... One last thing! Thanks to everyone who came out to the TISCH video launch - it was a shame that it wasn't finished in time for the launch but we'll definitely be rockin' and rollin' for the end of January, so it might be coming to a Billy Coleman gig in the not-too-distant future. Watch out for that. | ||||
