Free breakfast gig tomorrow - pre-protest meet up w/ Kate Nash, Natty + morehace 240 días

Hi

As the world watches central london tomorrow, the swell of public unrest with the current climate is impossible to ignore. Various factions are converging tomorrow to lobby the g20 and to provide a graphic reminder of how we have been let down by our world leaders and how we are failing our commitments to fighting poverty and climate change.

Tomorrow morning is an opportunity for music fans and musicians to have a breakfast meet up before the protest.

Event hosted by the fantastic Tiernan Douieb

Live music will be provided by

Kate Nash
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Natty
Kieran Leonard and many more.

+ Speakers from Oxfam and Love Music Hate Racism.

We're aiming to meet at Puregroove Record Shop at West Smithfields (Faringdon tube) at 8:50 with everything kicking off between 9-10, With the plan to join the protest and converge a the bank of England at 12 noon, where Billy Bragg will be performing.

This is a non violent/militant event, set up as a friendly meeting point before the days forthcoming protests.

Hope to see you there.

Sam Duckworth

London Astoria Demolation Ballhace 322 días

After numerous campaigns and public disappointment, the London Astoria finally closes its doors on January 14th. Manumission have the honour of hosting the final night but we thought it wouldn't be right for the capitals most Iconic venue to close without a few live bands.

After a few days of trying to encourage all we knew to get involved, we have a line up so far that includes:

The Automatic
My Vitriol
Get Cape. Wear Cape.
Fly (Band Show)
Frank Turner
The King Blues
VV Brown
+ Many More...

We..'re still waiting to hear back from many other bands, most of which will either turn up and play, or be announced over the next few days. Trying to cobble together a line up suitable of a closing party at a weeks notice is extremely difficult, so many thanks to all the bands/managers/agents who have helped us so far, and to those whom have shown support.

All proceeds from the Gig will go to support the excellent work of Love Music Hate Racism and Jail Guitar Doors.

Tickets are £8 and are on sale from Seetickets
http://www.seetickets.com/see/event....

or Stargreen.

More info will be updated as and when. I think its going to be one of those nights...

Hopefully see you there!

ZOMBIE - SAM'S CLUB NIGHT - TONIGHT!hace 416 días

Hey

How's it going? Hopefully all is going well.

So I'm back from what can only be described as a crazy summer, thanks to all who came to see us at the festivals and left us with memories we will never forget. Thanks also to all who came to the threshers dj shows and came up and chatted, it was great to meet you all and thanks for the kind words!

I'm currently hauled up in the studio starting the 3rd album and am very excited, I have a few songs together and am desperate to capture the energy of the live show on record for the first time. More news to come soon....

There aren't many things to update you on, in regards to future activity, however I'd like to alert those of you who live in/near london about a new project I'm involved with:

The term world music grates a bit doesn't it? A term that is coined by dodgy latin remixes of indie songs, from the guy in the highstreet playing pan pipes and can be unfortunately used to marginalise some of the worlds greatest artists.

After recent visits to the Congo and Cape Town, i wanted to create a night that explored "beats and breaks from around the world" Embracing the contributions of the likes of Fela Kuti and Fania Records in the development of modern music. A night where these artists are showcased for their breaks, their grooves and ultimately their songs. A night where you can dance to African and Latin Music, rather than have to struggle to hear it as the soundtrack to an overpriced, over filled cocktail bar.

So "Zombie" was born and it starts this Tuesday at the Electricity Showrooms in Shoreditch. Doors are at 8pm and its only £3 before 9.

As a special to Get Cape friends, if you email: zombie@getcapewearcapefly.co.uk with names, you will be put on the £2 guestlist.

Thankfully we have residents "Scribe" (Africa Exprez) and "One Happy World" (with an encyclopedic knowledge of music) to provide an excellent mix of music. A night to be filled with those "who was that track by" dj moments or maybe just a night to open yourself up to a bit of new music.

Thanks

Sam
