So, where was I?
The last blog instalment was the day of our show in The Alley, Gramsbergen on Saturday the 4th. Gig went great, and it was made all the better with the arrival of an Irish contingent of Debs, Emma and Julie-Ann to join in on the festivities. Back home to Erica afterwards and Hans in The Spot knows how to stage an after show party! Luckily we didn’t have to travel very far the next day for our gig (down the stairs to be exact!). Previous gigs in The Spot have always been memorable and this was no different. Great crowd again and fantastic reception. The handy thing was that we didn’t even have to pack up our gear because we were staying upstairs, but, to make sure it was safe, we had to be the last people out of the bar. It’s a hard life alright!
Hung around Holland for a few days and left for England early Wednesday morning for our gig in London. We arrived at The Cuban Bar in Camden in plenty of time, very unusual place, especially for a Jaded Sun gig. It was one of those “put the head down and get on with it” gigs. Won’t elaborate too much about it. The next day, we were in The Cuckoo Club in Westminster. This gig was the other end of the spectrum compared to the evening before. A very swanky, posh place but at least because it was an invite only show, we knew that the crowd would be on our side. So, that gig went fine. Off to Birmingham the next day for a gig in the Sound Bar. Lovely venue. There were a few bands on that evening but each were of the indie/alternative/mod orientation, all great bands in their own right but we stuck out like a sore thumb. I think we relish the underdog status because it was one of the most enjoyable gigs of the tour and we got a great reception here too. Drove to Cardiff early the next morning. The city was buzzing because there was a Heineken Cup Rugby match between Cardiff Blues and Toulouse on next door in the Millennium Stadium (Cardiff won, much to Thomas, our French sound engineer’s displeasure). We were all really looking forward to this show because we knew there’d be a good few people at it and also because it was our last gig of the tour, so we wanted to go out with a bang. The gig turned out to be one of the best shows of the tour with everyone in the venue really getting into the gig. I had to bite my tongue a number of times throughout the show to stop myself mentioning Ireland’s last gasp victory over the Welsh 3 weeks ago in the 6 Nations Rugby tournament but something had to give before the end, the crowd all took it in good spirits though.
Hopefully we’ll have some of our own pictures of the tour up on our sites soon enough but, already there are loads of pictures and videos of our gigs floating about the internet on various sites if you fancy searching for them. A big thank you to everybody who made the effort to turn up to our shows, promote our shows, listen to our music, upload pictures and videos on the net and for all the support and kind words over the past few weeks. The Jaded Sun train doesn’t stop rolling though, with 3 gigs in Northern Ireland this coming weekend. If there’s a gig close to you, please come along.
We’re on the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin now so this blog will have been written a good few hours before it’s on the net but I don’t think anything interesting will have happened between now and then.
Thanks again and keep posted to www.myspace.com/jadedsun for more news as it happens.
Keep Rockin’!
Damo – JS
p.s. - If you’re wondering what Blogalero means, John just started to add “alero” onto the end of every word, probably out of sheer boredom so then everyone started to do it. It’s one of those “had to be there” type of things and probably doesn’t seem funny now but it seemed funny at the time, especially in Holland ...... for some reason!

Zeg aan hallo iedereen! (That’s, hello everybody in Dutch, I think!)
More updates for you now from the “Trip”.
Picking up from where I left off, the gig in Pub-Rock Paulette, Lorraine last Saturday went great. Fantastic venue and a great crowd, despite the footy on the box. Onto Le Mans the next day. Now, we thought the venue in Valencienne was small. We were almost hitting our guitars off the bar counter in this place, and then when people arrived, they had to be careful they weren’t impaled by a Les Paul! The show went well though and it was our final show in France so we were relieved that we had a day or two off.
Fluted around Paris the next day and then made our way towards Holland. Arrived on the Tuesday and haven’t really stopped drinking since. It would be considered rude not to! Drinking Tuesday night in Douwe (a.k.a. The Legend)’s place and Wednesday night in Gerrit and Jeannette (a.k.a. Mammy & Daddy)’s place. This set us up nicely for our show in Erm on Thursday. Supported by Hans Grondel, the gig went great.
Alcohsonic arrived to support us last night for our show in Proeflokaal Belgie, Almelo. We have already played this venue before so we knew that there was an Irish bar around the corner, so, after our sound check we all went for some Irish stew and pints of Guinness. Best meal of the trip by far! Waddled onto the stage but the gig went brilliantly.
We’re staying in The Spot in Erica, which is where we are playing on the Sunday night. Here we are looked after fantastically by Hans & Truus. The shower’s on the blink though so we’ve to ring a few people to see if they’re willing to let 12 scruffy blokes use their shower!! (Thanks to Marianne & Olf for letting us use theirs the other day)
Tonight we’re playing in The Alley in Gramsbergen. Really looking forward to it. When we played here the last time there were a few electrical problems, to Eorann’s misfortune!! We’ll let you know if lightning can strike twice and how it goes this time around.
Talk t’ya again soon,
Damo - JS

Le Blog - Tour De France - Part L'un!hace 245 días

Bonjourno everybody.
Just keeping you updated with all that’s happening in the Jaded Sun camp so far.
We are having an amazing time so far on this tour, gigs are going great with fantastic responses from the audiences. We’ve been doing a lot of travelling in our cosy bus but it’s well worth it.
Got the ferry from Ireland to France, which was a bit of a killer, but our first stop when we arrived was “Pacific Rock” in Cergy, just outside Paris. We played a 20 minute set on the Saturday night after the headline band, for a sneak preview of our own headline show the following evening. The accommodation at the venue was memorable to say the least, but in a good way, and we were treated fantastically and made some great new friends. The gigs were filmed so you might see some footage of it floating about some time soon. We did some sightseeing around Paris in our spare time and I got a great picture of Eorann outside McDonald’s on the Champs-Elysées!! Landmark stuff!!
Next gig was in Lyon. Meet up with Alcohsonic here (they’ll be gigging with us for most of the shows on the tour). Sound lads and an amazing band. Gig went well.
Then back to Paris for a support gig to Pat McManus. This was a really rockin’ gig with Pat putting on a fantastic show. There’s some footage of the gig on YouTube somewhere if you get the chance to check it out.
From there it was on to Marseille. The long drive was worth it with a packed out show in the small, Le Lounge venue. Also, at the gig was our former drummer Gav Wheeler. He’s currently living there with his girlfriend after travelling the world. It was good to see him, we drank and reminisced but it wasn’t long before we were back in the van and off to the next place.
Last night we were in the Rock-a-Gogo in Valenciennes with Alcohsonic and GlowSun. Another tiny venue but jammed with people again. It was so hot, it seemed like the walls were sweating!! We got a fantastic reception and we really enjoyed the gig.
Anywho, we’re currently on the road again towards Lorraine for a show in the Pub-Rock Paulette. We were told that France have a vital World Cup qualifying match on the telly tonight so we better hope that there’s a big screen projection tv above the stage tonight or else no-one’ll turn up! Ha ha, we’ll keep you posted of how the gig goes in our next update.
Talk t’ya next time.
Cheers,
Damo - JS
