Come along to Box on Sauchiehall Street this evening around 8 of your British clock, and you will see Rosa Parks perform a set of unequalled similarity to the one done at the barfly a mere fortnight or so ago. Entry is free of charge, so you really don't have an excuse, do you?

Barfly on the 22nd686 dni temu

Like a bad curry from the night before, Rosa Parks are back when you least expected it. Although hopefully less smelly, and we don't stain carpets. Much. We will be appearing on stage downstairs at the barfly a week today (Tuesday the 22nd of January) supporting a proper band, and hope you will come to cheer us on/stand quietly/heckle incessantly. A ticket will set you back a fiver but we are open to alternative forms of payment, haggling and or bribery.

Cheers.

Just back from an epic journey to Dundee... epic. I'll try and put it into words, but some things just can't be communicated by mere verbiage.

Wednesday morning, me and jeffrey are walking to the station, to get a train to Glasgow and a not-so-megabus to dundee, when a taxi rolls up next to us. The driver rolls down his windaes; he's bald and wearing massive sunglasses. He stares at us for a second, then without a word the door slides open... so we get in.

We arrive in Dundee two hours early; thewliss is on the internet but he slams the laptop shut as we approach and jumps up. So we're like "meh, maybe we should practise since we haven't played together since the middle of march." so we stroll down to the centre of town, only mildly distracted by pizza hut, and proceed to rock that shit at stage 2k rehearsal studios.

As we prepare for the gig, we suddenly realise we don't know how we are getting to the venue. We look up and down the street and no one is there (it is Dundee after all), and suddenly a taxi pulls up. The driver rolls down his windaes; he's bald and wearing a large pirate hat and a fake parrot on his shoulder. He stares at us for a second, then without a word the door slides open... so we get in.

We get drawn to play third which is a pretty good slot, play a pretty solid set. The other bands are of a pretty good standard, so we're not that gutted that we don't get through. As the final band finishes, a cameraman bursts through the door screaming "I need a shot of this for the NME, you guys are on the next cover!" but thewliss, thinking he has called him childish, knocks him out wi wan punch. We have to make a quick exit...

As we run out, a taxi screams in next to us stopping inches from jeffrey's face (he didn't see him cos he's a hobbit). The driver rolls down his windaes; he's bald and wearing a big fake beard. He stares at us for a second, then without a word the door slides open... so we get in. He's like"you guys want to play a show tomorrow night? I'll make you an offer you can't refuse..." So we're like "aye man."

We turn up at Laing's the next day, saunter in then realise there is only one mic stand. Jeffrey turns to me and goes "there's only one mic stand!" and I'm like "christ". So we make one out of a stool, a mop, two paper clips, the sports section from the daily record and a copy of the view's album. Aye, they wans that sing about no changin there jeans.

Improvised equipment aside, we play another good set. The band that came second the night before (www.the-stoptracks.bebo.com - check that shizzle... ma nizzle. It's the bizzle. (?)) are next and they storm the place. A guy in white shirt that's absolutely munted thinks they are amazing and dances like a fanny... he later confessed that he thought they were the arctic monkeys.

Then the headliners colour coded played. They were named thus because the singer's face and shins were the same colour. We tried to go to the union after this, but we looked to hard to drink with students so they didn't let us in... as we're strolling back to thewliss' palais, a taxi parks next to us. The driver rolls down his windaes; he's bald and eating a slice of pepperoni pizza. He stares at us for a second, then without a word the door slides open... and we're like "nah man we're walking."

Do you want to save lives?982 dni temu

Bonjour. Rosa Parks will be appearing at a Battle of the Bands competition at the Bond in Dundee on Wednesday April 4th. Anyone who lives remotely near Dundee should come along, not just to support us, but also to raise money for a very good cause - the Dundee University branch of the Anthony Nolan Trust bone marrow charity. It's only £3 entry, and (some might say more importantly) it's only £1.50 for a bottle of Stella. First band at 7:30 so get there early, and drink like people's lives depended on it. Because they do. We trust you to do the right thing.

The future, etc. 1024 dni temu

Hello again. We are taking a break from gigging at the moment (har har) to work on some new songs. Anyone who was wondering why we had a "..., part 2" song will be enlightened in the near future...

And that future is called March, when we will be returning to the stage in a blaze of glory, hopefully with a couple of Glasgow shows and maybe a Carluke one as well for all our "home boys" as I believe they are known these days. A show in Dundee is still on the cards at some point although we have had a few hiccoughs in the organisation, but all our "fans" on the east coast should keep their eyes to the ground and their ears peeled. And stay off crack.

A CD is also on the cards at some point this year, but nothing is set in stone. We will be recording live "favourites" such like "Disko" and "Class is Not Water". In all probability.

From now on, pictures of the band will be exclusively on this very bebo page, as I can't be arsed uploading then all over the shop. I'll be uploading some older photos in the near future so a few new (old) galleries should pop up over the next few days. Check em out n shit. Might have a live video somewhere on the interweb soon too.

Keys up,

Andy.

Gigs - 'The Fall Catalogue'1184 dni temu

Just posted details of our next two gigs. First one is at The Gallery in Carluke, an upmarket establishment known for its backing of local cultural and spiritual organisations; on 21st September it will be the showcase for the talents of Connie Palermo - Carluke's answer to Razorlight, and the world's answer to recent comments from Venus that we don't have a sense of humour. Support from yours trully. Entry for £1 on the door.

After the that we play Rockers in Glasgow on the 4th of October. More details about that when known. Tickets should be available at the Gallery show for a mere 3 of your pounds sterling. After that will follow a brief hiatus while Jeffrey is on holiday (and no, he's not in New Zealand filming Lord of the Rings 4!) before we burst back onto the scene with news of demos, gigs, controversial tour documentaries and perhaps even more.

Andy.

P.S. If you have a myspace, we do too. http://www.myspace.com/rosaparks
