| Gonorth, Rockness and Radio 1 accoustic session... | 179 Tage her | ||
| We arrived home early Sunday afternoon after a superb weekend in Inverness playing at GoNorth and Rockness! Both of those events were incredibly fun to play and we were made to feel most welcome by everyone who put us on/attended the shows/spoke to us. Plus a very special thanks to Sam Brill for photographing the trip, Phil Wiles for looking after us from behind the sound desk and to those who acted as our street team (for want of a less cheesy term!!) handing out flyers! We met heaps of awesome people; guys from Trapped In Kansas, Colour Coded, Sam from 45 aside Records... Whilst backstage at Rockness on Saturday, we recorded a few tracks for BBC Radio 1. The three tracks (listed below) will be played on Vic Galloway's Radio 1 show on Wednesday 17th June between 12midnight and 2am. Woo! If you miss it, you can listen again at: www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/vicgalloway 1. Passing The Horse 2. Tampa Am 3. Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas Photos and video footage to follow. | Room Thirteen Review... | 400 Tage her | ||
| Some nice words from RoomThirteen.com... The new EP from Cast of the Capital has a cracking opening track, 'Passing The Horse' is pleasantly jangly and lo-fi in the same way that Granddaddy used to rock. The tune has an upbeat, catchy melody that is instantly memorable and sticks with you. 'An Organ's Pledge' is gentle and ephemeral yet builds to a swirling crescendo of guitar based noise that sweeps you away nicely. The strains of 'This Thought Of Yours' are light and airy; beautifully plucked guitar and almost whispered vocals, leaving you with a warm contented feel. 'The Witching Hour' has a darker, more melancholy feel but is no less catchy because it quickly breaks into a quicker, heavier pace which becomes almost a pop song half way through. Following on from their excellent Demo in August 2007, Cast of the Capital build up and deliver on all their promises of beautiful, sparkling indie-pop songs. Lovely. Score: 11 out of 13. Review by Emma Gould. | |||
