"WE BROKE UP, THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT TIMES!"
| 11/DECEMBER/08 - Kerrang! Best Unsigned Band Award Results | Il y a 371 jours | ||
| Hey guys! It was brought to our attention today that we came in 5th in the Best Unsigned Band category at the Kerrang! Readers Poll Awards. To see the pic click this link! http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3... Thanks to Christy for getting this picture for us! There's a few things that makes this amazing. First off, the fact that in all the unsigned bands in the whole of the UK you guys voted to get us in there. Secondly, the fact we didn't push for a campaign to vote for us, you guys took initiative and voted and promoted this yourselves. This came as news to us as we didn't expect to even get a mention so thanks so much. And lastly, it's always been a dream of ours to get a mention in Kerrang. As small as the mention is it's an awesome thing for us so thanks so much! This has siked us up for the last shows ... spread the word and see you guys there, make sure to drag all your friends and family down to the shows, they're going to be amazing! Merry Xmas everybody and have a Gnarly New Year Peace out, -SC x | |||

| 27/NOVEMBER/08 - VIDEO - Final Shows & Stuff | Il y a 384 jours | ||
| Hey guys! Just to let you guys know we are busy getting our last shows confirmed and sorting out the supporting line-up. These are going to be really special shows and they'll be announced hopefully in the next few days. Also, to clear a few things up, there have been a bajillion stories and rumours going around and as much as people would love them to be true (everyone loves a bit of gossip and drama it seems!) here it is from the horse's mouth: we have just called it a day on good terms. Everyone's doing their own thing now as SC just ran it's course. We're different people than we were when we were 14/15/16 years old and as SC was becoming more and more of an inpending full time committment we all started to prioritise certain things in our lives as we were going to have to make sacrifices if we were to take it any further. It didn't make sense to continue on as SC considering everyone's personal situations at this time. We'll make sure to keep in touch with everything we're doing after the final shows so keep checking back to see what each of us are up to as we'll update the SC page if there's anything you guys need to know! For now though to tie you over until we announce the shows, check out our flashbox for a live video of 'Lunch Money' taken from the Blastbeat Finals in January '08. ENJOY! peace, -SC | |||

| 09/NOVEMBER/08 - Final Blog | Il y a 402 jours | ||
| Hey everybody. There's been some buzz about this and a lot of people have been asking a lot of questions so, hopefully, this blog will clear some things up and keep everyone in the know as to what has been going on. As a band we've decided to split up. We've been thinking about it a lot recently and it seems to be the right thing to do. Steer Clear has been the most fun times we've ever had as people and musicians and we wouldn't change anything that happened for the world. Basically we always had the attitude that the band should be fun and the second it stopped being fun is the second we stop playing. We want to leave the band in a place in our hearts and memories as something we enjoyed, something we loved doing and something that we learnt from and grew up with. We have achieved more than we ever dreamt of as a band. We got signed, recorded an album, charted a single, shared stages with our heroes, played our own sold out shows to people who like our band, had awesome shows and awesome after parties, got to play in mainland UK, got to play in America, shot a music video, got played on radio and TV, recorded a live radio 1 session and got to meet loads of new people we never would have through touring and playing shows. We have the most amazing fans, we've always said that. People that take their own time to go out on the street and spread the word, help out promoting shows and just the general vibing they do to spread the word. People that were into our band were really into our band and we hope that they enjoyed the music as much we loved making it. We want to thank anyone who's ever helped us out in any way be that going out and sticking our flyers all over phone boxes and getting people to shows or even sending your friend a link saying 'HEY! Check this band out!'. As cheesy as it sounds and every band says it, but maybe the reason they say it is because it's true and the best way of putting it, but we literally wouldn't be anywhere without our fans and people who listened and supported the band. Without you guys we would have been playing to empty venues (and believe us we HAVE!) and that's no fun for anyone so thanks for coming out and partying hard. We're having 2 final shows, 1 in Belfast and 1 in Dublin which are our 2 bases as a band. Keep checking back for dates and we hope that anyone who's even heard of us or supported us in any way or at any time over the last 4 years will come out; we'd love to see you down there. It's gonna be a party, a celebration: it's not a funeral so let's not treat it like one. And right now we just need a break, we've been going a bajillion miles per hour and we all personally need time to concentrate on other things in our lives. So keep checking back to this page for any updates as to what we're up to personally and perhaps musically. Music runs through our veins, that's why we started this band so keep an ear to the ground! With regards to these 2 shows we're pleased to announce that Vinny will be back and playing them with us. "What about Ebbs?!" I hear you exclaim. Well Ebbs actually suggested it and the rest of us agreed. Vinny gave 3 and whatever years to Steer Clear and was the founding member back in 2004 with p0d. So it makes sense for him to come back to celebrate what we achieved as a band and the fun times that we had. We want to hang out at the show and talk to everyone as much as possible and hear what you guys think and we'll be playing a specially extended set and trying to fit in as many songs as possible too. So all that's left to do is say 'THANK YOU'. A big massive one all in capitals with a million exclamation marks afterwards. We'll get the new songs/and old ones up over the next while along with some old photos etc. You guys are fucking awesome. No Regrets. p0d/Vinny/Ebbs/Sib/Simon/Mark Steer Clear | |||

| 16/OCTOBER/08 - Didn’t get your merch on tour? READ THIS! | Il y a 419 jours | ||
| HEY GUYS! Just wanna say thanks again for everyone who came out on tour, was fucking awesome! Basically what this blog is about is to get people sorted out with the merch they were owed that they didn't get as we completely sold out most of our stuff by the time we got to some cities. We didn't see it going that fast so it meant some people (especially people with bundle tickets) ended up disappointed and people with bundle tickets were turning up having paid for admission/t-shirt and maybe a CD and there weren't any left. We wanna get this sorted and we apologise for the delayed nature of this blog things have pretty busy recently. Basically if you could send these details: -Your name -Your address -What exact item of merch you're owed -Your reference number on your bundle ticket so we can cross reference it Send all this through to: steerclearsmell@googlemail.com ... ... and we'll hopefully get it all sorted! Please note this is just for people who bought bundle tickets, merch at the moment is not available to buy through this method this is just trying to make amends with the people that missed out on tour! Peace out, -SC x | |||

| 24/SEPTEMBER/08 - Tour supports announced and 'Bridge The Gap' | Il y a 448 jours | ||
| SUP GUYS? Padraig and Sib here just chilling around a computer in Dublin. Sorry we haven't been able to reply that much recently but we've been really busy running up to tour and severe lack of internet access is to blame as well! Basically we've got all the supports for our tour sorted and we have a few announcements to make as well. Firstly, here's the tour supports ... The Upgrades will be touring support and playing every date of the tour (except Derry!). This time around we wanted to play with as many different bands as possible so we got people to submit and in many ways introduce themselves to us so this is what we've come up with for the shows. Derry - Frau Sandy, Future Chaser and imadethis Cork - The Upgrades, National Saturday and The Calibre Dublin - The Upgrades, Little Nightmare and Mr Lightweight Dublin [18+] - The Upgrades, The Shower Scene and Little Nightmare Belfast [18+] - The Upgrades and Soundchild Newry - The Upgrades and No Potential Galway - The Upgrades, Midway and Silver Circus Belfast - The Upgrades, Seven Story Weather and Sethway We're really excited about these shows and the buzz about these shows (with them being Ebbs' first shows aswell!) has been great so we can't fucking wait. Now, with regards to 'Bridge The Gap', it's the name of the EP we're bringing out for this tour. But we're going to do things a little differently this time. Let me explain ... Basically, as some of you may know, we try to do as much band stuff as we can ourselves. We put on and promote our own shows by flyering as much as we can and sitting up to 4am with countless cups of coffee trying to make our tours happen so we can jump into that wee van of ours and hit the road! We know how it feels when things don't exactly come together. Saying that, over the last year things have been really great for us and a lot of exciting stuff has happened and we've played some of the best shows of our lives. You guys have been coming out and supporting us and really encouraging and helping us to move forward and keep going. Now, to many, this blog may come across as a bit dramatic but we really want to show how much we appreciate it and how much no matter what happens from here on in that there's something to hopefully show you guys how much it means to us. So, we've printed 100 CD-Rs. (100% official burned on Mark Merch's laptop!) At the moment they're just sitting in front of us with the brand on them but we might decorate them a bit. We wanted to strip it back and instead of charging you guys a fiver for a flashy looking CD we're going to charge 2 pounds sterling/3 euro and there will only be 100 copies made. (If they sell out on the first rung of dates we'll try our hardest to get a few more made on our 2 days off on tour). The tracklisting will be: 1. BFFL 2. I Really Like You 3. getALIVE! 4. Forever Endeavour We picked these songs as they are the 4 demoes we have recorded since the release of our 'No, You Hang Up' full length album (WHICH IS NOW ENTIRELY SOLD OUT!). This EP shows the direction we're going in as since the album Simon and Ebbs have both joined the ranks and writing with a piano as another instrument has added to the influence for our songs. Hence 'Bridge The Gap' as I'm sure it's self explanatory now. We can't wait to see everyone on tour and we're playing some places we've never played before as our own show so we can't wait! We're all chilling in Dublin now and we're hard at rehearsals and so stoked that tour has crept up this soon. Peace out, -SC x | |||

| 07/SEPTEMBER/08 - Studio UPDATE! | Il y a 463 jours | ||
| Hey guys! Just arrived back home in Belfast from the studio in Denmark today. The last 2 weeks have been crazy biscuits ... in a good way! Ebbs has slotted in like a glove in the words of Ace Ventura and he wants to thank everyone for the warm welcome. We can't wait to get playing live and neither can he. With regards to the studio we got 3 songs done. One is named and the other 2 are yet to be named. The tracks still need mixed and mastered and because we don't want to half ass them it's going to take a bit more time to get them finished off. FULL VIDEO DIARY COMING SOON! So keep checking the Steer Clear TV set on our profile page for that! Which means, they're probably not going to be ready in time for tour to be released as an EP on the 26th September. But fear not! We're going to have a 4 track EP (as yet untitled) of songs recorded since the album instead and they are as follows. 1. BFFL 2. getALIVE! 3. Forever Endeavour 4. I Really Like You This EP will be on sale at the shows on the tour and as part of the bundle ticket offer presale for the Irish tour. TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW AND ARE GOING REALLY WELL! So if you want to get your mits on them head on over to www.ts.com and search 'Steer Clear'. These shows are shaping up to be great and we're just picking supports now as we've been busy! They'll be announced soon aswell so keep checking back! We've tried to cover as much ground as possible in Ireland while sticking to a schedule as well so it would be awesome to see you guys there! For all our UK peeps too. We have some very exciting news coming very soon as well! PEACE OUT, -SC X | |||

| 26/AUGUST/08 - PLEASE READ! | Il y a 478 jours | ||
| Hey everyone. It's literally Pádraig, Sib, Mark and Simon shoved in around a computer screen here. As some of you may already know, as rumours were flying about for the last few weeks, we have parted ways with Vinny our guitarist. This is biggest decision Steer Clear (including Vinny) have ever made and one of the biggest in our lives so far. Basically, we parted on completely perfect terms. We discussed it firstly in London and over the next week or so things became clear that if Steer Clear were to progress it was better for both parties if we broke away at that point. Vinny has always been there since the start and is one of the founding members of Steer Clear. He is an awesome guy and we wish him all the best for the future in his academic and musical career. Vinny is finishing off his 3rd level education this year and believe us you will hear from him soon! Below are a few words Vinny has said on the matter: "Hey I just want to say a massive thank you to every single person who came to any of the shows I played, bought any of our CD's and came up and talked to me after. I had an unbelievable time in Steer Clear and got to do things which I never thought I could do, as well as meet so many different people. I count myself very lucky because not a lot of people get to start bands with their best friends and have hundreds of people turn up to shows, making posters with your name on them, and I just want to say a thank you to every person who loves this band as much as i do. The decision to leave the band for me was one of the hardest decisions I will ever make, but I feel at this stage if I stayed in the band any longer I would only hold it back. Everyone in the band has their own different priorites, and with that I feel that it is best for everyone that we part now. I absolutely love this band, and that includes each and every member, and I will certainly be at every future show I can be. We are all very much still friends and will keep it that way. That said, I want to wish Steer Clear the best of luck for the future, and I hope that with a new member, they can finish what we started. Thanks again Vinny" Obviously with every lineup change there is going to be reshuffling and with that in mind we would like to introduce you to the latest member of the Steer Clear family: Ebbs. We took our time and made sure we found the right guy. And that we did and we're really stoked to have him on board! We hope you can make it out to future shows and show your support to him and us as a band. WE WANT TO ENSURE EVERYONE WE ARE NOT LOSING ANY STEAM! If anything this has been a kick up the ass for Steer Clear and frees us up to be busier than ever! So keep your eyes peeled on our dates and come say hey! TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW FOR THE AUTUMN TOUR! The only place you can nab them is over @ https://express.ts.com/k?v=steerclear Otherwise you can wait and pay at the door! But we can't ensure a place for you so you're better reserving one ASAP! SEE YA'S THERE!! Peace out! -SC x | |||
