| LADY MERCEDES, Cafe Drummond, Aberdeen SPORTING a look that's reminiscent of Supergrass's Gaz Coombes, frontman Brett McIntosh steers his band through the highways and byways of modern music. At times, he sings like Liam Gallagher might if he'd grown up within spitting distance of the Mississippi Delta. At others, his band swerves from sounding like Cream having a punch-up with Deep Purple to something that's not a million miles away from The Charlatans. Songs like Hey Alleycat and Shot Dead Boogie, meanwhile, are deep, rootsy, blues-inspired affairs that motor along. As you'd expect, they can play a bit too - guitarist Leigh Collingbourne delivers an astonishing solo on Disco Biscuit Dolly for example. | Well alright my brothers and sisters, how are we all? is everybody in? Just touching base with anyone who cares enough to have a read, haven't been in touch for a while but theres quite a lot of exciting little bits n' pieces happening with the good Lady Mercedes at the moment so we'll take it from the top: The quest for a new brother guitar dirty mother has been coming along just fine and I think we've finally found our guy, ain't it weird how things come together so nicely when you don't expect them? the answers usually staring you out, right in your face, anyways, we'll be locking ourselves away in the dungeon, cuttin it and cookin it up with our new hombre, letting it bleed, it's a soul who i've worked a lot with in the past and present on a number of projects so i can't tell ya how excitied we are to get him involved, also he's another writer which is great, ya can't have too many idea's kickin around, or maybe you can? we have faith in him tho. Talking about ideas we got a hand full of new things cooked up that we're dying to lay into on a stage soon, as well as a million (or so it seems) half baked pipe dreams that'll no doubt flow from the brain through the vains sometime soon, new titles include Rock N' Roll Will Be The Death Of Me, Hey Alleycat, Sweet Little Tragedy, Mama Don't Play That Song, and Desolation Angels. We're also gonna be hitting the road in July/August on a UK tour with our brothers in arms The Vivians (watch out for their debut single released soon, they're smokin man!) we'll be making a pit stop in Aberdeen so make sure and catch the show! and the great outdoors beckons with a few festival appearences on the cards too!
