| After over 5 years of being a band, we’ve decided that Windfall has had its day. We agree that with recent changes, conflicting schedules, and different creative opinions, it’s time to call it quits. All we want to say now is thanks. Whether you started listening to us yesterday, last week, last month, or followed us from the very beginning. Whether you’ve enjoyed just one of our songs, bought one of our CDs, or went to see us live every time we played. Thanks to anyone that has given us gigs, and all the bands we’ve shared the stage with and the memories of the fun times we had. Thanks to anyone who gave us a place to stay or a place to store our gear. Thanks to all the past Windfall members for the fun times with them and how they helped evolve and shape the band to what it eventually became. Sure you could look back at the last 5 years and think of the little we accomplished, how lazy and un-productive we were. However I think we can look back and be proud of the little things we accomplished, including things that most bands would never get the opportunity to do. We got to go to a recording studio in Dublin and record one of our own songs for a CD sold in major music stores all over the country. We’ve got to gig around Cork and beyond, and got to meet many awesome bands and people. And of course it was inspiring to read all the great comments and feedback from you guys. It meant a lot to us to know that people loved the music and songs we were creating. This band was started for fun; we never expected this much positive feedback. We’re just a bunch of immature kids that like to play heavy shit and tough-guy breakdowns. Yeah as a band we haven’t done much at all, but at least we left a positive and lasting impression. Sorry to anyone who wanted us to play another gig. It sucks that we couldn’t fulfil the request, but don’t worry; you haven’t heard the last of us. We will be in new projects soon. So make sure to check them out! - Dan. | |||

| Windfall is a metal band, based in Cork, Ireland which began its life in 2002, when it compiled of just 3 members; Sean Norris on rhythm guitar, Stephen Desmond on lead guitar and Tony McGinty on bass. Like all young bands, the group was originally just a hobby, but as the songs began to gel, something a little more serious started to evolve. In 2003 the group found two vital ingredients for any band - a drummer (Jason Donahue) in October and a vocalist (Sinead Collins) in December. The group continued like this for some time, but things just didn't seem to click. In 2004, James Cronin joined as the new bassist to take over from Tony who subsequently left(on good terms). Finally, everything was running smoothly again, and James brought a new quality to the group. Two weeks into its new life, Windfall entered its first Battle of the Bands competition and won. However, something still wasn't quite right, and after a few months, Sinead left the band. Now singer-less, Windfall was back to square one. In late 2004, the group listened to the "Fuse 2004" c.d. in hopes of finding a new singer and, oddly enough, found what they were looking for. On January the 1st 2005, the new vocalist (Siofra FitzGerald) joined. A friend of the guys (Dan Corbett) started to jam with the band on occassion and even started to help writing some new songs. Things were good. Content set in and the new Windfall played their first Blast gig in Gorey. After a great response they continued to practice diligently in anticipation of a Cork Blast gig, and hopefully, a much larger crowd. They played a few more local gig with Dan as the drummer - initially just for convenience - but as the months went on it became apparent that Dan brought the group in the direction they were searching for. It was a tough decision, but in 2005, Dan became the permanent drummer of Windfall. Thankfully, Jason is still a great friend of the band. The current Windfall has existed since late 2005, and hopefully, will continue to grow musically. We're keeping it metal... What could possibly go wrong? | |||
