Spacifix - PARIS!500 dni temu

Bonjour, and to the beautiful French city of Paris, here we come. We arrive by train and as you walk out of the station, I finally understand why they call this the city of love. With surroundings of eclectic buildings, fine foods, good looking people and a language even when spoken angrily sounds so sexy, make for a city of lovers. But hey that doesn’t matter here since most of us are single.

For the next 2 days, we indulge ourselves into the sights and lights of this great city, from the Eiffel tower to Notre Dame to walking a million miles around and around, this place has such a rich history to it. Before you know it, its time to move onto London for most of us Paris is definitely a place to return to, hopefully not alone, if you know what I mean ☺ Rudy

Spacifix - LONDON!!500 dni temu

Alrighty! So we made it into London ready for our showcase at bar named Madame Jojo’s. Before this we had sometime to have a wonder through London. Buckingham Palace, London Bridge, Tower Bridge there was too much to see in one day really. In any case we had a show to do.
The bar was situated on a small street in Soho (an area in town) We were a little worried about the turnout at first since the gig started at 7.30pm which is a little early for a bar gig. However once we hit the stage, more and more people were rolling in. Like most new and unfamiliar audiences for us, it took a couple of songs for the Londoners to catch our vibe. But they did and they were really into it. I also think it’s worth mentioning that the bartenders were dancing behind the counter non-stop haha!
So a huge thank you to everyone who came to the gig to check us out.
The London show was over so we got some downtime, so some of the boys went to visit family just outside of the London while the rest of us just got onto one of the those city tour buses.
Sitting at the top of the unroofed double-decker we had a great view of everything… although we got confused at first with bus routes, ending up right in front of our hotel after about 20mins. But we figured that out and so we got a good look of the whole town. There was also a tour guide on the bus which was awesome because there’s a story behind every landmark and he filled us in… Also the tour guide was a total comedian… and I remember more of his jokes than his facts… Oh well!
If your looking for a place with a real history, London’s a great place to be. I recommend that you check it out …and catch a tour bus… and ask for Allan the tour guide!! You’ll love it! Cheerio

EO YOUTH DAY - !!!! 512 dni temu

EO Youthday
Wow, how do i kick this off??? Being in Holland was a real buzz to start off with, then arriving at the venue for the festival was just crazy....it was massive and a new standard in terms of stage, lighting and sound. Our dressing rooms were hot, I mean a decent apartment size room as our dressing room, kind of set the standard for the size and level of this gig

The show.... In case you are wondering, this is Tau dropping a line for the interested...OK cool...nerves were everywhere, I mean we were in Europe, opportunities like this dont come by everyday. I woke up at 5am and found it hard to snooze again, i was a little jet-lagged though...Anywayz, game face on, costume pressed and vocals all warmed up. i was ready. Glanced across the room and the boys looked freaked out but ready....here we GO!!!

Beat started, crowd responded with a deafening applause and I tripped on the first move (shame) I made it look like a slide thought...lol...

It was tight, the band was pumping, the vocals were doin their thing and the first song went off. We sang: Sunshine Day, Summertime (new), Shes Gone (new), Save me (new), Old Skool and Gotta Get Like This. All original songs and each track went down well, the crowd were into it, really engaged and a little shocked at what was going on, cos we were so off-beat and different. Mean times, we loved it and had heaps of fun too....feel free to YouTube the gig... Spacifix @ EO.... Tau

I am writing this on the high speed train to Paris, which all eleven of us (8 band, 3 support) boarded with all our instruments and baggage – quite a sight to be seen!!

The tour has really been amazing so far, the people that see us perfrom (or simply meet us) are always taken aback by the unique/crazy freedom and genuiness that we carry. We have been leaving a trail of tremendous impact wherever we go...whether playing for a crowd of 35,000 in holland, or busking on the streets of Manchester...

Every place that we have been so far has its individual flavour / ambience. Amsterdam is definitely a city worth going back to, there are plenty of picturesque canals with great restaurants on each side and truly amazing architecture that is unlike anywhere else in Europe....

We arrived in Paris and aside from being accosted by gypsies and beggars, tried to get a maxi-cab to take our luggage and instruments to the hotel (which was 10 blocks away), in true Paris style, the cabbies gave us quotes that were ridiculously overpriced; trying to rip us off! So...we decided to take all 36 pieces of luggage and instruments in trolleys on the 10 block journey...an adventure in itself on the busy Paris streets!!

Having already visited the city 3 times before, I was immediately made the official tour guide (not to mention I understand and speak a little French) We saw the sights of the the city in a laid back tempo and as usual created a scene , imparting life whereever we went. We sang songs and involved large crowds in our crazy fun on the mid-level of the eiffel tower; listened to live jazz played by amazing musos at a restaurant; walked by the river Seine; took in a beautiful movie-like sunset from the Louve and ate some very fine meals with-a-view!!!

Paris is a city that is definitely worth visiting- extremely pleasing to the eye, very rich with history and the undisputed centre of high fashion – as a band, we all agreed on one thing about Paris: there is a LOT of love in the air!

Amsterdam
Having finished the big show at EO (and a great show it was i might add!!) we hopped in a van and made our way to Amsterdam. After a good nights rest we headed into town to do some sight-seeing. Our first stop was the oldest building in the city, a church. While it was quite a marvel, it was a bit unsettling since it sat right in the middle of the Red Light district...I just kept my eyes closed....

The rest of the day was spent visiting places like the canal and the Van Gogh museum, but as intriguing as they were, nothing intrigued me more than the city life in general. The Dutch people are really into their footbal, and having just thrashed the French in a game two days before, half the city, including the people, were covered in orange, the national colour.

While I did enjoy looking around town I feel like I missed a lot of things because we were spending so much time dodging traffic and trying to make our way through the masses of people. The streets, largely made of brick are either small, crowded or just hard to follow. So at any moment you could find a car, bus, tram or bike coming right at you. Bikes especially, for every car theres about bikes, its similar to the ratio of sheep to people in NZ!!!!

All in all, Amsterdam was beautiful and i kinda wish we had more time to look around. Next time I think we will grab some bikes to make sure we get to see everything.

Europe Tour 08 - DUBAI519 dni temu

Aaahhh Dubai, a city constantly changing, with a skyine etched with cranes, it is still very much under construction. Sadly no gig here, but a days rest to allow our bodies to adjust to this part of the world, which is a first for all of us....
We start our day getting smacked by the unbelievable desert heat! Its 7 in the morning and its already 28 degrees, gives you an idea of what kind of day we are heading into. Since we are not playing, we are classified as tourists and this city is made for tourists!! unlimited resources of shopping and attractions, it is hard to fit it all in one day!

We spend some time at the Emrites mall, this aint just any mall, its a mall with a ski field!! 40 degrees outside and snow in!!!
Before you know it, time flies when your having fun ands its time to continue on with the journey, a city with such diversity, from people to buildings it is a must to come back, hopefully soon :)
