| Sometimes music videos tell stories. This video tells the story of a band's journey to get our own hands dirty. Someone once defined the role of an artist as the act of looking at the world and describing it...not just as the world is... but also as it should be. There is only so much looking and describing a band can do when faced with injustices, and tragedies... and also the heroic stories of those who rise above their fears and overcome insurmountable obstacles. Two Hands is a song about overcoming our own fears and finding reasons to care about others even when we don't feel equipped to do so. This video shows our work in Africa with Blood:Water Mission. | Happy holidays!! Greetings from Nashville, where we are slowing down, just for a few days before we speed back up. It's been a great 6 weeks or so since the Music Builds tour ended. We jumped right back in the studio and wrote and recorded two more new songs, and are just this week finishing the mixing process of this new record. We have 13 songs we are really excited to share with you! It was a long year, putting this record together in different pieces and seasons, but we have all been so surprised and grateful to see it all finished this month. We're shooting for a Spring 09 release.. it feels like a long way off, but will be here before long! We're also putting pieces in place to hit the road next week for the Love Came Down, Christmas Tour with Sara Groves, Sixpence None the Richer, and Leeland. Check our website for dates, cities and details. It's gonna be a really rich night of music and stories. We do hope that many of you can come see us, slow down a little bit, and reflect on Christmas together. We tried to get out to the West Coast, and it just didn't work out logistically this year- we're very sorry and will try even harder next year! If you need some fresh Christmas music this year, check out new cd projects from Sara Groves and Sixpence, as well as two of my other current favorites, Rosie Thomas and Mindy Smith. Great stuff, some brilliant re-interpretations as well as nostalgic classics. We are offering to you this year our Advent Reflection Book: Peace Is Here, in audio form. And lastly, I'm excited to start an Advent Poetry Blog this season. Every day from November 30 through December 25th I will post a new Advent/Christmas poem by various poets and authors. I always love the idea of Advent- waiting and anticipating the Coming of the Christ-child, but December ends up being one of the busiest and most manic months of the year. So this is my attempt to slow down a little bit, and use these poems as a tool to be aware and thoughtfully "wait". It may or may not be your thing, but i hope you'll pop in and check it out. | We are hitting the road this December with Sixpence none the Richer, Sara Groves, and Leeland, and are really excited to hit several of the places that we were not able to play last year on the Third Day Offerings tour. The Love Came Down at Christmas tour is definitely going to be one that you don't want to miss. Expect an artful modern Christmas pageant with some of the most talented artists in Christian Music singing some of the most creative re-interpretations of Christmas classics as well as new Christmas Standards. The evening will feature unique collaborations that you won't be able to see anywhere else, and a rich unifying theme of contemplation of the miracle that Peace has entered into chaos and is continues to invade and haunt us still now 2000 years later. | For all remaining MusicBuilds shows, except for September 25th in Phoenix we’ve arranged for a very special ticket deal for anyone who has not yet bought a ticket and comes out early to see our set. Aside from Phoenix on September 25th, we play at 6:00pm sharp each night, and want to try and get as many people out to see us as we possibly can. The details: - Arrive at the box office no later than 5:30pm to purchase tickets. - Tell the box office representative, “I am here to see Jars of Clay”. - You will then be able to purchase a ticket at the special group rate price as an individual. This will be a typical savings of anywhere from $10-$100! - Your seat will be located wherever the group seating is located. - Again, this promotion only extends to people who have not yet bought tickets. | Hello Friends and Fans everywhere! Matt here, just wanted to electronically reach out and touch you all with some hot news from the JOC camp. We have successfully completed our first 3 shows of the Music Builds Tour, and if the midwest is any indication it is going to be a great tour. What a monstrous bill of heavy hitters! We did want to pass along however that if you are planning to come out to Music Builds you should know that Jars goes on the first of the four bands, which most nights means we hit the stage at 6pm SHARP! So don't wander in at quarter to 7 and be all "wait, wha? jars is already over? dang it!" cause you will miss 35 power packed minutes of killer new tunes and reinventions of some of the hits of yesteryear. Also I should mention that the tour and our website are currently the only two places that you can get physical copies of our new "Closer" EP, which comes with yacht-tastic free poster inside! You don't want to miss this one, the new tunes are a bit of an appetizer for what the new record will sound like that is currently slated to drop in March 09. I should also mention that you should check out the new merch designs up at our online store. | We're proud to announce the release of our new EP "Closer!" Here's the scoop: 3 new songs - including the full track of the recently released as a sneak peak "Closer." A new song called "Safe to Land" and "Prisoner of Hope," which we used as end title credits to the movie "Sons of Lwala." Also included are 2 favorites that we've re-worked. "Flood" and "Lovesong for a Savior" have been given new life with this re-recording. It's something we've wanted to do for some time, to give the songs some different production, while keeping the soul of the songs we've loved for many years now. We hope you dig the re-interpretations! Lastly, check out the art work - it's a collaboration between our fine lead singer Dan and our extremely talented friend Christy Little who worked on the artwork for the "Christmas Songs" album.
