Hi Beboers!

Starting today we're rolling out a change to who can post stuff to your public profile. The default behavior is to allow only friends to post comments, mail and other stuff to your profile. We're doing this to make Bebo a better place for everyone. Remember to check your friend requests at least once a day so the people you want to let post to your profile are in your friend list!

You can allow folks that aren't yet your friends to post, if you want. You can configure this and other privacy settings at http://www.bebo.com/PrivacyEdit.jsp.

2. Top Friend Wonkiness
Looks like there's some issues with Top Friendage. You've been reporting that people are making you Top Friends when in fact they haven't. We're on it. Hope to ship a fix tomorrow evening.

3. GMail
We plan to begin warming up GMail again tomorrow. We're one of the first customers working with Google on some new technology they've developed to allow you to read your email on Bebo.

Hi Beboers,

Today, you'll see some new and exciting changes to your homepage.

We wanted to make your life online easier by bringing all of the things you care about to one place.

The top part of the homepage allows you to receive email updates from AOL, Yahoo Mail, Gmail directly to your Bebo homepage. Underneath that section, you will see a "changes" area that let's you see what is going on with your AIM, Twitter, Flickr, Del.icio.us, YouTube and, of course, your Bebo friends. On the right hand side, you will see a media recommendations area which includes all of your subscriptions and stuff we think you'll enjoy.

If you feel homesick, you can go back to your old homepage by clicking on:

Hello Beboers,

We have some great news; we've switched to a new user-uploaded video service provided by Motionbox. We really love the new service because it's simple to use and the video quality is great!

As you probably already know, you've always been able to upload your own videos to Bebo via VideoEgg or copy videos from YouTube. And you can still can copy videos from YouTube but now that we've teamed up with Motionbox we need you to transfer all your old VideoEgg videos so that you can continue to watch and share them on Bebo.

Q: What do I need to do?

A: If you have uploaded videos to Bebo using VideoEgg then you MUST transfer them before the end of 2008. To get started go to http://bebo.com/c/video_transfer to setup a Motionbox account (and tick "Automatically transfer my videos...") and then we'll do all the heavy lifting to actually move your videos over.

Hi Bebos,

We're glad you're enjoying the updates.

Wow, what happened to the Profile Sub Navigation? :P :O
(i.e. those links back to the Main Profile Page on the apps, quizzes, photos pages ?)

Those bits/bytes were left on the workshop table when the train left the station last night.

Sorry about that. :D

They'll be back in our next release, which should be around 4PM PDT.

Greetings Beboers!

You've probably noticed that we're looking a bit shinier today.

We've spruced up our logo and made the top navigation bar easier to use.

We also took some weight off the footer (that's the bottom part of the page for those of you who aren't into word-processing).

Why?

Well, we wanted to make space for some new features and functionalities that we're developing for you.

What are they?

Come on :) you know we can't tell you! Not just yet. But we're almost there. So sit back, enjoy the ride and we'll have some more news for you later this month.

Just wanted to let you know we're listening and you're right there are a number of visual bugs related to changes we recently made. I want you to know we'll be shipping fixes for these all week.

In the coming days and weeks there will be a number of new visual updates and features coming to Bebo. We'll be giving you a preview of a few the new features this week. As always, we'll evolve together. You'll comment, we'll listen, we'll iterate. Please be patient, continue to let us know what you think and know we're listening.

In the coming weeks we'll be releasing features that will allow you to:

* Customize your profile page in new ways.
* Stay in touch with your friends
* Stay on top of what's cool on Bebo
* Stay on top of what's cool on the web.

It's about 95% done so there may be some slight changes.

Bebo wants to know what you want.
So just think of what you wanted on Bebo that hasn't been done.
Like displaying information from all your other favorite sites on your profile?
Or making photos easier to upload and more viewable. Or enabling more privacy on your profile. Anything and everything.

Bebo labs is at its initial stage but as new features come in and users grow it will provide a great place for feedback and up-to-date information from inside Bebo.
