- We are delighted to announce that Alcon '08 will run on 5-7 September 2008 at De Montfort University, Leicester City Campus. Alcon is an extremely friendly and innovative anime convention that aims to provide something fresh and exciting to its attendees. At just £25 for three day entry, and just £19.50 per night for accommodation, the convention represents excellent value.
As well as anime screening, there shall be a video gaming room, an Artist Ally, a Cosplayer's Hangout, a Card-Gaming/Roleplaying room, an Anime Bar, a Dealers room and much more. So, whether you want to chill out and watch some anime, nip down to the bar and have a few drinks, party all night, or maybe have a laugh with some friends on a video game, this convention will be for you. You do not have to be a hard-core otaku to enjoy it!
- So why should i attend alcon?
- 1. We're all friendly and down to Earth. Come chat with Mike Towers, and He'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have. mtowers1982@yahoo.co.uk via msn or FreeSaiyan via AIM.
2. Events exclusive to Alcon will return such as the Iron Artist, Cosplay Blind-Date and 5 Minute Cosplay, along with several entirely new ideas such as The Battle of the DJs, a Video Gaming Party, and Alcon Assassins.
3. Of course the more traditional fare such as the Cosplay Masquerade, Pub Quiz and so on will also take place.
4. Favourites such as Akemi Solloway and David Bircham shall return, with more guests to be confirmed.
5. Finally! Keep an eye out for the Pirates v Ninjas v Vampires battle that shall ensue at the convention! Which side wins? YOU shall decide!

- Well for all u irish lasses and laddies out there, i went in september, and for 2 nights accomadation and alot of partying i didnt spent more than €400. that includes flights aswell and food and alchomohol! look at it this way, ONE average night out in Dublin would cost you nearly a quater that!!!

Life Drawing classes at ALcon!!!
We're pleased to announce that Sally Thompson, a contributor to Viper Comics' Parable anthology, and a finalist in Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga, will be attending Alcon and conducting a life drawing panel.
Quote-
"Not just about drawing fruit! How can life-drawing techniques improve your manga?
In this exciting workshop, participants will learn steps they can use in their own work,
and create a manga illustration inspired by life on-site!
This is a participatory workshop demonstrating the application of life-drawing to manga through the creation by each participant of amanga illustration using as a base a sketch done from a live model (clothed, obviously!).
Topics covered include gesture, proportions, contour, clothing, conversion to manga and possibly a peer critique. The panel will be pretty comprehensive is expected to last between 1 and a half and 2 hours."
Overall, a great chance to learn some new tricks and improve your artwork!

MAZ, THE OWNER OF BRITISH BALL JOINTED DOLL WEBSITE, ANGELS OF LIFE WILL BE ATTENDING!!!
We are delighted to announce that Maz, the owner of the well-known British Ball Jointed Doll website Angels Of Life will be attending Alcon 2008.
She will be displaying her BJDs, and also hosting information panels about BJDs which will vary between how to string/restring dolls, explaining how to do faceups, examples of products used, and so forth.

Thursday night accomodation
Thursday Night Accommodation is now available.
"We recognise that some attendees have to travel long distances, and so we have decided to make Thursday night accommodation available. However, this is currently limited to 50 rooms. There is a possibility of more rooms, but it's still uncertain at this point so if you'd like a good nights rest before getting into all the hustle and bustle of the con, make sure to signup and pay early! "
